The "Gender Wage Gap" is a feminist myth. Like all feminist myths it is a classic divide and conquer strategy, designed to engender hatred of men in women and "male guilt" in men.
Men and women make exactly the same when all factors: age, experience, education, time on the job, time in the position, etc. are considered. NPR broadcasts the results of the annual study on "gender" and income every February and they consistently report that, when all of the above factors are accounted for, women make $0.98 - $1.02 for every $1.00 that men make. In other words, their respective incomes are statistically identical.
Feminist propagandists use a survey on work habits to report that women make 2/3 of what men make. This survey is not designed to determine income based on the factors listed above, it is designed to determine overarching patterns of productivity. What it shows is that women's economic productivity is only about 2/3 of men's. It also shows that women have more choice in the market than men have. Women are allowed not to work (i.e. they can find a man that will work and take care of them so they don't have to) and they are given a lot more choice when it comes to working part-time. Choices that men simply aren't allowed. For example, many companies explicitly offer "mother's hours" (presumably fathers aren't welcome).
