    Default Visiting Ireland

I'm heading over to Ireland for a couple of weeks next month. Could anyone who is very familiar with Ireland advise me as to sites or experiences that are "must see" or "must do" while there? I'll be in Dublin for several days, then will be heading to Cork, then by auto to anywhere else on the island I want to go.

Are you just going around in the ROI or Northern Ireland, too? I was in the southeast of the island a few years ago, near Wexford (County Wexford) and Waterford ( County Waterford).

Lush, beautiful landscapes and rolling hills along with farms, etc.

If I were you, I'd try to experience real Irish food, speak to the locals in the pubs along your way and make sure you drive on the other side of the road.

The one place I didn't go, which I regret, is Galway. The land, rocks/rocky and ocean around that area is grand.

I've been to Dublin a couple of times. Try to go to out of the way places, something non-touristy. Go find and peek at the Book of Kells at the Trinity College Library. Regardless of your faith/belief system, it is a marvelous work indeed... so old, priceless and beautiful after all of this time.

Yes, I'll be in Northern Ireland as well. Planning to visit Derry for a day and take in the Giant's causeway, and Bushmill's Distillery. Belfast I think I'll pass because of time and not that much to see, unless you're into memorial sites. Dublin has many great things to see and do, and I'll be the pubs everywhere I go, contributing to the average pint per citizen statistic and proving to the Irish that they have no corner on the gift of gab or tall stories.

I plan to go to Ring of Kerry, then up to Cliffs of Moher, then to Galway area, then through the countryside to Derry and finally back down to just north of Dublin for a couple of sites there.

I hope you have a wonderful trip. Post some pictures of your trip, if you can!
