Religion will always baffle me... fighting to the death over something nobody really knows.. I don't know. But if I were forced into a religion I could easily rank my preferences from least to most desirable.. and for some reason bowing to Mecca 3x a day always ranks as one of the least desirable options... I'd rather be a fire worshiper, lol. Islam conquered Zorastrianism though didn't it?
I always find myself wondering, what if Jesus didn't want to be crucified. What if he was crucified against his will. Would that mean Christians worshipping a false-god? Even worse, what if Jesus never wanted people to worship him, so on top of being crucified he gets deified as well. The first copies of New Testament took a long long time after his death to pop up and there are inconsistencies. This is not a slam against Christianity as it has produced a more profound culture than Islam could ever hope to achieve. Yet sometimes I wonder what Nordic Pagan belief systems could have (or did) achieved. Sometimes I wonder if Judeo-Christianity was the true collapse of the Roman empire. Not that I actually care about any of these things besides the culture which I or my children have to live in. I say the 'founding fathers' of America had profound beliefs, such as Thomas Paine, they seemed to be followers in belief and reason, rather than superstitious dogma.
The Arab muslims took advantage of Iran's war fatigue because of Iran fighting the Byzantine Empire for decades before the invasion and the Iranians infighting about who should be their new Shah, but Zoroastrianism still exists today: List of countries by Zoroastrian population - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yea, sorry. Was responding to that one track FL posted.
Are there any Armenians here, who used to be on SF? Armenian, Ann Frakenstein, to name two, were very good guys to me.
