MARINE LE Pen has boycotted a TV documentary on the "extreme right" in France because she objects to the classification for her party.
She refused to appear on the France 2 show
Complément d'enquête in a programme called
la Tentation de l'extrême droite.
"There is no link, human or ideological, between the Front National and these groups depicted in the report through their acts, those being particularly horrifying killings, preceded by torture committed by criminals to a background of Nazi chants," said Le Pen in a press statement.
She added that the party would be watching the programme, which was screened last night, closely for defamation.
The programme included coverage of the trial of four skinheads found guilty in April of torturing and murdering Alexis Frumin, 21, in a crime recognised as both homophobic and racist.
Members of the group were given between 14 years and life imprisonment.
Reporter Benoît Duquesne said he was surprised Le Pen had suddenly dropped out of the programme as the title and subject matter had been announced three weeks ago.
