While hilarious, this is what American society has become, a third world freak show orchestrated by the jew. Compare this to what America once was just 50 years ago. Shows like Maury Povich just encourage more of this. More attention, focus and fixation is given to those with "adversity" than those who make good, logical, rational choices with their lives.
Eventually, I just have to turn programs off when they glorify single moms living off of social services until they get employment while there are good people out there who do the right thing and get shafted.
The media is horrible. They lavish attention on Haiti while completely ignoring Iceland. This is an example of backwards priorities. Everything is upside down.

I couldn't watch the video to the end as its just crap entertainment. American television has been gutter-low for many years now, with Oprah and Springer type 'reality shows' dominating the daytime slots on all major networks.
This is a prime example that someone other than the law-abiding, conscience White-man is controlling the media. These types of shows are to make these dregs and their (lack of) lifestyle seems 'the norm'. Sadly enough, they have an effect and it appears that our children and future are in a downward spiral.

A new web show called “BUMP+” is stirring up controversy and conversation about abortion. It’s a “fake” reality show in which three actresses portray women facing unintended pregnancies. These characters, entirely fictional, have agreed to appear on a reality TV show and let the public weigh in on what they should do about their pregnancies: keep it, terminate it, adoption? The creators of the web series say they will pick what happens to “contestants’” pregnancies based on viewer response.

It’s not exactly what we pro-choicers have always dreamed about: a decision left up to a woman, her doctor, and a vast and anonymous internet audience. When feminists say we want more realistic portrayals of abortion in the movies and on TV, we don’t mean reality-show realistic. My body, everybody’s choice?

BUMP+ aims for more than just controversy however; it seeks to, in the words of its creators, spark an honest, Obama-style “common ground” dialogue about the choice based on women’s reality rather than ideological scuffling. The tag-line:

“In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court gave women a choice. Thirty-seven years later, we’re giving them a voice. BUMP+ is a provocative web series from Yellow Line Studio that follows the fictional stories of three women facing unintended pregnancies.”

As someone who writes constantly about the weird avoidance or squeamishness surrounding abortion on TV and the movies, I’m not opposed to this kind of show in theory. Zooming in on women’s lives can often really illuminate what reproductive freedom is all about. A brilliant example is the essay collection “Choice” from a few years back, in which women wrote about every angle of reproduction, from abortion to adoption to surrogacy to miscarriages to regular old pregnancy, and it became clear that there is no one-size fits all rule for such intimate decisions. And that’s what the show’s creators claim are trying to do–brush off the rhetoric, leave us with the stories.


But there are a few barriers to this goal. The show’s format — a fictional reality show with traditional actors playing reality show contestants — has a couple of meta-layers between real women’s stories and the audience. Reality show contestants are not there for us to empathize with, as a rule; they’re there to make us feel superior. Most importantly, the show doesn’t merely follow three women with unexpected pregnancies, but it allows viewers to weigh in on whether they’re going to carry their pregnancies to term or have abortions. The show has already gotten major backlash from both sides for this supposed callousness.

“So let me get this straight: two dudes, yet again, come up with a TOTALLY novel way of framing a debate that fundamentally affects women and that novel method turned out to be wholly insensitive?” said a commenter at Jezebel. While over at FOX news, a commenter wrote “This is the height of depravity and one more sign that America has truly lost it’s [sic] way…How sad that the killing of the unborn has now become “entertainment.”


However, when I called Bump+’s Director, Chris Riley,he wanted to emphasize that although the show seeks viewers’ input, there’ no up-or down American Idol style vote on these women’s futures (whew). “We have shot multiple endings, and we’ve shot 50 hours of which we’ll only see about 75 minutes. So in post-production we’ll have a lot of latitude to shape things in terms of what happens and the input we get, but as characters these women will fully make their choices on their own,” he said.


Another potential criticism from our end, Anna North at Jezebel noted, is that reality TV shows seem to exist for the purpose of watching women conform to stereotypes. “The general overarching premise that producers look for as they create all of their shows is drama, not necessarily other human emotions,” says Jennifer Pozner of Women in Media and News, who is writing a book about gender and reality TV. “Even if women on these shows don’t act like head cases, editing makes them seem as if they are.”

At first glance the three characters on Bump+ seem like these typical reality show stock types–after all, they’re all pregnant women who have decided to broadcast their decision on a reality show. “Hailey” is somewhat out to lunch, a woman who’s had several abortions already. “I get pregnant really easily!” she chirps. According to Hailey, a fetus becomes human “when it comes out, I guess?” “Denise” is a childlike woman with two kids who eats all the clinic’s red Starburst candy even though the nurse says it’s for younger patients. Later, we learn she may be in an abusive relationship. While her situation couldn’t be more serious, her single-minded sweet-tooth, high-pitched voice, and insistence that she is made for stardom make her an odd object of empathy. Finally we have “Katie,” who seems more mature than her counterparts–but her pregnancy is a result of her adultery while her husband serves in Iraq. They are all white and fairly generically thin and pretty.


Riley urges viewers to have patience with the characters, admitting that the reality show format was a move designed to accommodate their budget and an attempt to be provocative and get attention. He says that the women’s stories will win out and win us over. “Yes, if this were real, it would be outrageous,” from either perspective, he admits. “For the women to volunteer to be on the show, that’s not a likable move. That is a challenge we have. But we as writers have a tremendous amount of affection for these characters. What will happen over episodes is that viewers will come to see them as more and more three-dimensional.” He says we’ll see explanations for their behavior that make it hard to condemn them or mock them the way we might with other reality TV show characters, and notes that Bump+ has many women writers and they have borrowed from real women’s stories to build their characters.

“Nobody’s going to be hitting anybody over the head with a folding chair,” he says. “From those who oppose abortion, I hope it creates more sympathy for kinds of real dilemmas people find themselves in.”

Audience members who oppose abortion, says Riley, have been far more vocal on the site, most taking a civil tone, but all urging the fictional characters to keep the pregnancy. This skewing is the natural outgrowth of any kind of common ground efforts that try to mediate between one group of people who embrace the idea of telling women what to do, and another group committed to letting women make the decision for themselves. Thus, the show has elicited outrage on the right wing, bringing droves of curious anti-choicers to the site to see the scenarios in question–where it’s just produced baffled shrugs in the reproductive rights crowd.


“We do want to find ways to reach out to more pro-choice voices and invite those kinds of personal stories to be posted,” says Riley. “There’s stigma attached to those stories, but we hope online there’s enough anonymity for that to happen,” he says. He says that the moderators and Bump+’s stated mission of respectful discourse has provided a safe space. He notes that there are specific “pro-life” commenters who have been revisiting the site seeking to understand the pro-choice side, but not finding many people who disagree with them.


Personally, talking to Riley definitely softened my skepticism of Bump+, though not enough to give it my ringing endorsement yet. The characterization of the abortion debate as equally polarized on both sides is problematic. It’s hard not to get frustrated by the idea that common ground is something new or fresh when our community has been stuggling for decades to reduce unintended pregnancies, support mothers and give women a voice. But I am going to check out future webisodes and see if the show’s writers live up to their goals, and I encourage any brave yet gentle souls who want to share their opinions and experiences to so, so that we can help this fake reality show can live up to the word reality.

Agreed FL Patriot. In listening to Jamie's morning radio show, i heard how the AR conference was cancelled,,,again. Apparently due to 'death threats' made towards the employees of a hotel that was to accommodate the members of the conference.
I cant wrap my head around any of this. Was the AR conference members part of a radical far-out lunatic fringe group, conspiring to attack someone or overthrow the Government? No, they were conscience Whites who were there to discuss todays political infestation of Zionism and Communism.
An invisible power, presumably the radical Left have made these threats and had the conference shut down. This approach is only used to silence White Nationalism, no other group.
Who is behind it you ask FL Patriot, i bet they are students of the FRANKFURT SCHOOL, a brilliant concept by Jews to pick away at freedom and democracy.
My suggestion for the next conference is to hold it on private land. Live music, camping and an event can be made of it to attract all kinds of folks who want to be a part of America, or what it used to be. Hank Jr. could surely be a great host to such an event. I work in a diverse neighborhood (read bkack). So one day a black toddler wandered by unattended. The guys I work with had seen the kid in the neighborhood and knew he lived with his mother around the corner. So he did the white thing not wanting to see a toddler hit by a car, brought the kid home. The mother was sitting on the stoop indifferent to him bringing her son back. He told her she needs to keep an eye on him so nothing bad happens. Her response was "ill just make another one"

I use to live in an apartment building that had a ton of blacks in it, this is a common practice with them. You'd be sitting there late at night watching TV, reading a book or on the net and you'd get a knock on the door and it was always some black woman asking if you'd seen her kids.

I usually just closed the door in their faces.

The apartment building I live in now is about 75% White, 15% Asian and the rest is mixed. It's much better, but it still happens here (always a black woman). Luckily we have a "dividing door" that separates the last two apartments from the rest and you have to either have a key or be let in this section to in there. My neighbor and I have just started ignoring people knocking on the dividing door unless we know who is out there already.

Thank God for dividing doors!

There is no way to change an immoral person, without promoting morality and our society can’t do that. A first step in changing is admitting that you are wrong. There are only 2 ways: Driving them out by force is out of the question for obvious reasons. Driving them out by persuasion would require us to discriminate against them, which would enable them to sue us for everything we have and take over our neighborhoods completely.

Actually, there IS a third way... but I can't go into that, because I care too much about this forum and its members to start an uproar.

You’ve accepted the idea that TV makes you dumber. You know there are lots of more edifying things you could be doing with your time than cheering on the contestants on “Survivor.”

And unless you’re working out to an exercise video, you know those hours sprawled out in front of the screen are going to make you fatter — not to mention the impact of all that junk food you’ve been tempted to scarf down during the commercial breaks.

But you’ll be surprised to learn the host of other bad things TV can do to you.

1. TV makes you deader.

TV-viewing is a pretty deadly pastime, research suggests. No matter how much time you spend in the gym, every hour you spend in front of the TV increases your risk of dying from heart disease, according to a recent report in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association. Australian researchers studied 8,800 adult men and women for an average of six years and found that every hour spent in front of the TV translated into an 11 percent increase in the risk of death from any cause, a 9 percent increase in the risk of death from cancer and an 18 percent increase in the risk of death from cardiovascular disease. So, compared to people who watched less than two hours of TV a day, those who watched four or more hours a day had a 46 percent higher risk of death from any cause and an 80 percent higher risk of death due to cardiovascular disease. And that was true even among people who didn’t smoke, were thin, ate healthy diets and had low blood pressure and cholesterol.

2. TV makes you drunker.
TV may make you drink more. When it comes to drinking, we’re apparently very susceptible to what we see on TV, according to a report published in Alcohol and Alcoholism. To discover whether what we view actually affects drinking habits, researchers rounded up 80 male university students between the ages of 18 and 29 and plunked them down in a bar-like setting where the students were allowed to watch movies and commercials on TV. The researchers found that men who watched films and commercials in which alcohol was prominently featured immediately reached for a glass of beer or wine and drank an average of 1.5 glasses more than those who watched films and commercials in which alcohol played a less prominent role.

3. TV can make your kid pregnant.
Teens who watched a lot of TV that included sexual content were twice as likely to get pregnant, according to a study published in Pediatrics. Once a year for three years, Rand Corporation researchers surveyed 1,461 youngsters — ages 12 to 17 at the beginning of the study — about TV-viewing habits and sexual behavior. Boys were asked if they had ever gotten a girl pregnant and girls were asked if they had ever been pregnant. To get a handle on how much sexually charged TV kids were watching, the researchers asked teens if and how often they viewed 23 specific programs.

Another study showed that kids who watch two or more hours of TV a day start having sex earlier, according to a report in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. Researchers followed 4,808 students for a year. The kids — all ages 15 or younger — had never had sex at the beginning of the study. Among kids with parents who disapproved of teen sex, those who watched two or more hours of TV per day were 72 percent more likely to start having sex by the end of the study. The researchers said they weren’t surprised to find no TV effect among kids with parents who didn’t care about teen sex since those kids were at high risk of early sex anyway.

4. TV weakens your bones.
Hours spent watching TV can set a kid up for later problems with brittle bones, according to a study published in the Journal of Pediatrics. Until we hit 25 or so, we accumulate bone in a kind of savings account. The more bone we build when we’re younger, the less likely we are to develop the brittle-bone disease osteoporosis.

To see whether TV watching might impact kids’ bone growth, researchers followed 214 3-year-olds for four years. The children’s height and weight were checked every four months, along with their activity levels. At each checkup, parents were asked about their kids’ TV-viewing habits. The more TV kids watched, the less bone they grew, regardless of how active they were at other times.

5. TV makes you less engaging.
A recent study found that when the TV is on — even if it’s just in the background — parents interact less with their kids. To learn more about TV’s effects, researchers brought 51 infants and toddlers, each accompanied by a parent, to a university child study center, according to the report published Child Development. Parents and kids were observed for half an hour in a playroom without a TV and then for a half hour with the TV tuned to an adult program such as “Jeopardy!” When the TV was on, parents spent about 20 percent less time talking to their children. And when parents did pay attention to their kids, the quality of the interactions was lower: With a program on in the background, parents were less active, attentive and responsive to their youngsters.
