Paul Coats -- what a jerk. I'm glad to see that the Indians see through this Cappucino Revolutionary, but I didn't like the par about how they work hard, hold down poorly paying part time jobs, with the hope of making a new life HERE. I never went to uni, I never finished school, and regardless of the fact I was brought up by a pair of teachers (ironic that), I still hold a beaut kind of contempt for people who did the right thing and went to uni and will wind up with a better life than me.

I remember in the 1980s being a guest of an underground radio DJ on a community station who played the Punk hour. We were mods there, but we were friends of the punks. Anyhow, a bunch of uni kids came down (funny that, the station was situated in a Sydney uni), and the DJ, who felt the same way I do about them, played a song called "Uni W*****s" on air as soon as they left. Heh heh.

You bring a very strong point that seldom comes to the fore whenever the likes of Jenny Brockie, or the usual suspects from Q&A hunker down to chew the fat on the 'big issues'...and before I sail with that tangent, on the subject of these two programmes, which seem to have a patent on open national discussion, let's just take note of how the audience for either programme is conspicuously weighted whenever you watch these shows. Don't forget you have to apply for seats. Right, well, have you noticed how there's always a considered balance of Asian/Indian/Muslims/Token Abo/Sundry groids in ratio to educated (read either Liberal or more predominantly Leftist) whites? Back to the point...the onus is always on whether, say, in the scenario you mentioned above, the inclusion of a (non-white) into a white family, whether that person would be accepted by the whites. The reverse is never examined on anything but a superficial level. A Muslim girl might answer if asked, "No, my father would want me to marry a Muslim". But that's never held in focus.
