This is an e-mail circulated by Tea Party groups throughout Ohio.

While some of the Tea Parties might have been co-opted by the Neo-Con wing of the Republican Party, I see little evidence locally. To wit: The Liber-Tea Party in Columbus, largely the brain child of the Ohio Freedom Coalition, the Warren Tea Parties, Jim Trafficant and ant-Fed forces dominated, The Lisbon Tea Party, and the Steubenville Tea Party- organized by Steubenville 4 Liberty- a group loosely associated with C4L. I almost forgot- the Pittsburgh Tea Party where a discredited "birther" and republican outcast, Alan Keyes Spoke.

Are there republicans in their crowds? Yes, are there neo-conservatives in the crowds? Some even favoring war? Yes, but they are by and large mostly middle Americans wanting their country back. They are not aligned to some dark secret cabal, they are just ordinary citizens who recognize that something has gone dreadfully wrong in the direction that their country has taken. Some are not as well read or knowledgeable as some of us, cut them some slack, they are newbies and are just learning, we need their enthusiasm and our job, as I see it, is to fill in their gaps of understanding and knowledge with good sources of information. We should not act confrontational, polarizing and elitist know it alls, rather we should find common cause and educate them, in bite size pieces.

The fact that large masses of people with at least embryonic ideas are in our midst should be a Godsend, we should redouble our efforts to pass out all literature we can, engage and educate. So far, the organized party of the GOP has been rebuffed by the local Tea Party people, there is quite a lot of talk about being co-opted and the members are generally not falling for the Sarah Palin/Newt Gingrich line. We have to act quick and offer them non-partisan alternatives.

I just received this and there are already groups from both sides trying to demonize the Tea Parties which should indicate that they are not having a lot of success at "controlling them" just yet, This one happens to be from the left but there are also those on the right, when, being rebuffed are demonizing them, too. This should prove that they are largely amorphous and locally driven, and not the creation of the Illuminati or some secret cabal.

Liberty, limited government, personal responsibility are such a simple and obvious a message, it would be almost hard for us to screw it up. Let us not become jaded, cynical, and pompous, but lead the people. I have been studying the American revolution for two years and all the books I read show the exact same trends as I see emerging today- go ahead, read Common Sense- not by Glenn Beck but by Thomas Paine, read about Washington's campaign as the American "Fabious", read about the confusion and the mixed signals that coalesced around a single word, LIBERTY, as a rallying cause for the whole of the 13 disparate colonies. As Thomas Woods said, of the Ron Paul Campaign, it was a miracle to see this seemingly random group coming together in a spontaneous common cause without direction from outside. I might add that my personal belief is that as General Washington attributed it to, an act of Providence. As long as we, ourselves, have pure truthful motives, we will succeed.
