An intelligence officer who sold 129 women and girls from ex-Soviet states abroad has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars by a court in Moscow. Colonel Dmitry Strykanov of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) has been found guilty of trafficking Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Moldovan and Uzbek women to a number of European and Arab counties. The women, some of whom were minors, were forced into prostitution. Altogether, ten people, among them citizens of Moldova and Israel, have been sentenced in this case.
