Thread: Bowden inmate killed was to be deported to China

A Bowden Institution inmate killed on the weekend was due to be deported to China after serving a 12-year sentence for a Calgary home invasion.
David Tung Louie, 38, was rushed to hospital Sunday after an attack in the cells, but died from his injuries.
The prison remains in lockdown, officials say.
Louie was serving a 12-year sentence for variety of weapons, drugs and robbery offences committed in Calgary in 2003.
He had been at Bowden since January 2010.
The prisoner’s death is being treated as a homicide and investigated by RCMP.
The prison is said to be stable, said spokeswoman Rita Wehrle.
“We’re still in lockdown, and we anticipate it will be for a few days for certain. All of our staff are safe and all other inmates are safe,” she said.
Louie was convicted of breaking into a five-bedroom home on 17th Street N.E. and stealing $18,000 in cash -- $14,000 allegedly from victim Elaine Choy’s purse.
Inside the home were Cynthia Lou, her boyfriend, convicted cocaine dealer Richard (Gui Ming), and roommate Jason (Xi Wen Wu) who were struck and injured by weapons brandished by Louie and two others.
Louie, Thuan Duc Hua and Song Ye Bu were tracked by HAWC1 and arrested shortly after they fled the house.
Hua and Bu previously pleaded guilty to their role in the home invasion heist and were each sentenced to eight years in prison.
Bowden Institution is a medium security federal penitentiary with 557 inmates.

You know what's odd, I didn't think the Chinese would use "David" as a first name - especially if they're "native" to China (that is, if they were born there).
