"Ethnic" has to be a euphemism for skin colour, because I never hear politicians fussing about, for example, the need to court Scandinavian voters. When was the last time anyone cared how Ole Jensen, who has never missed a Sons of Norway meeting since immigrating to Canada five years ago, is going to vote?
Poor Ole, only mildly ethnic
with his rosy skin and blond hair -no one's trying to woo him. Now if Ole suddenly changed his name to Mohamed Jensen, he might become an ethnic object of interest to politicians, regardless of stripe or party.
