Europeans and Jews - right relationships

There are several issues involved when we think of the interaction between Jews and Europeans as well as Jews and all Gentiles in general. The following are some:

WHO ARE THE JEWS?

There are several theories surrounding who the Jews are. One is that they are the people who today call themselves Jews. The following link shows the DNA evidence for this and indicates that the present-day Palestinians are practically blood brothers to the Jews: http://www.pnas.org/content/97/12/6769.full. This is in accordance to what I feel the Bible says about who the Jews are. Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek and Latin evidence of the veracity of the Bible is so strong that to say the Bible is not true is to also say that the Greek and Roman empires did not exist as well as much of other history in that area. And based on this evidence, Jews lived for many years in the present day lands of Israel and Palestine and then were scattered over the globe.

A second theory is that the Jews melted into the Khazar empire and their descendants will be found in the area from Turkey to Kazakhstan. Those who believe this often recite Revelation 2:9 of the Bible in regard to the "Jews" of today, "...who say they are Jews and are not..." (NASB) In other words, the "Jews" of today are total impostors.

A third theory is based on the Europeans being descendants of Shem instead of Ham and that the European groups are specifically the 12 tribes of Israel. Again, Rev. 2:9 is quoted concerning today's Jews. I don't believe the Bible backs this up though there is evidence for the Europeans to be descendants of Ham and also of Shem.

Then there are those who believe that the Jewish identity is a spiritual identity only. Members of Messianic congregations believe that they are the true Jews. Other theories involve Muslim theories that Abraham's offspring are in Yemen or that there were never any Jews in the first place and that it is only a religion.

For the purpose of the rest of the article, I am referring to present day Israeli's and their relatives of the diaspora as Jews.

ARE JEWS GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE?

Deuteronomy 7:6 says, "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth." (NASB). Many people including myself believe that God chose the descendents of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to be a special people for God through whom salvation was to come for all mankind. I and many others believe that Jesus was the ultimate fulfillment of this choosing but that there are other purposes as well which continue to play out. As this verse does indicate, Jews are chosen for the purpose of holiness (kindness, honesty, fairness, justice) - not to be leaders of wickedness. And many of us believe that Jews, if they become Christians, are still Jews and God's chosen and should marry only God's chosen just as Chinese should marry Chinese, Indians should marry Indians etc.

HOW SHOULD THE REST OF THE WORLD RELATE TO JEWS?

Israel’s foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman, said recently to foreign powers that whatever Israel does in ‘not their (foreign powers') business’ and that security of Israel’s citizens is the ‘Israeli government’s responsibility.' (http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/lieberman-u-s-russian-warnings-against-iran-strike-will-not-affect-israel-s-decision-1.414199?localLinksEnabled=false) I and many others totally agree with this. Jews need to be left alone. They need to marry each other, take care of their own affairs and be responsible for their own protection without foreign aid (do we also want foreign aid?). In a Wikipedia article on Jews, James Carroll is quoted as writing, "Jews accounted for 10% of the total population of the Roman Empire. By that ratio, if other factors had not intervened, there would be 200 million Jews in the world today, instead of something like 13 million." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jews) Jewish populations are going down because we are part of "those other factors". We don't help ourselves or Jews when we make their actions our business.

Jews have been encouraged to integrate as well as assimilate into foreign populations because of a mutual encouragement to do so from both Jews and Gentiles to the point that both are equally as guilty. For example, Jews in Germany at one point were made to adopt German names (why?). And Jews who wanted to marry Europeans had to give up their Jewish identity to do so. This is also reversed so that sometimes Gentiles who want to marry Jews or work for them have to give up their European identities.

It was a liberal Jewish professor who surprised me by alerting me to this real problem. She said Jews always got into trouble by assimilating. Many other Jews and many Gentiles have said the same thing. It seems that both Jews and Gentiles have not learned anything from history. But we cannot correct past mistakes. We have to live for the future.

I believe personally that the Jews are "God's chosen people" (because God had to chose someone) but this doesn't mean I am not as loved as the Jews are by God or as special as they are or that I am inferior in any sense of the word. And it doesn't mean that I treat Jews in a special way or help them in a special way. If I meet Jews, I give them the respect I give all peoples. But in minding my own business, I involve myself with my own people which is only proper and right and which, incidentally, gives me no time to stick my nose in the business of others.

In his documentary, "Defamation", Yoav Shamir interviews his mother (at the three-minute mark) about anti-Semitism. She wisely says that as long as Jews are living outside of Israel and making money off of foreigners, more anit-semitism will arise. She admonishes Jews to stay in Israel. Jews living among Europeans provide two temptations we must be aware of. The first temptation is to be reactive against the Jews. We need to be fully aware, for sure, of what Jews are doing but it needs to stop there (Jews do many positive things also). Our energies need to be focused in building our own communities up. The second temptation is to include the Jews in our lives. Inclusivity is detrimental to both sides and will result in the non-existence of a Jews in the future as well as the destruction of Europeans. Jews can survive on their own and so can we. They don't need our business and our patronage just as we don't need theirs. Interactions, of course, will always be necessary but should be at a minimum. Sadly they are not because of the many, many ways Europeans have become inter-dependent on Jews, and not just on Jews but on all non-Europeans.

Israel has said we should leave them (including all Jews which are citizens of Israel) alone. The first question is, why aren't we? The second and more important question is, why aren't we taking care of ourselves?
For those who do not agree with the my definition of Jews, we probably can agree at least that there should be separation.
For those who think that all Christians who believe that the Jews are God's chosen people are also Zionists, hopefully I've helped to clear that generalization up because many of us do not. We want to leave Israel and Israelis alone. Christian Zionists, in my opinion, are Christians who don't want to face present-day realities and who use the "blessing God's chosen people" mantra/ritual as a way to gaurantee a trouble-free existence.
My life has been affected just as much as the next person's directly and indirectly by Jews and while I could get bitter and angry, I have to look at my own actions first and realize I made myself vulnerable to their ploys through my own behaviour which emulated that of Canadians in general. Hopefully I am making myself invulnerable to Jewish actions as time goes on but my focus in not on reaction but on proaction. And hopefully Jews have benefitted from the changes in my life.
