This is a joke, right?
Why leave your money in there at extremely low rates and have them tell you how much you can have access to?

I don't think so. The photo was sent to me by a friend today.
This is not that unusual for a bank in trouble.

Shouldn't that be illegal? Denying access to their own money to people who are not criminals or suspected of being such?
I know that when I was in Ireland, I believe (if I remember correctly) I was only able to withdraw about 250 Euros at a time. But then again, ATM's always have limits. I don't know what it'd be like withdrawing from the bank if you just walked right in.![]()
Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. I am not afraid. - M. Aurelius

A few years back, when Argentina was in trouble and hyperinflation was raging, the Argentine government not only limited bank withdrawals, but also screwed depositors.
Originally the Argentine peso was pegged to the USDollar. When the "peg" broke and the Peso collapsed, they also converted USDollar accounts to Argentine pesos on a retroactive basis, with a major loss of purchasing power to savers.
These savers were right about where the Peso was going, but underestimated the influence of banks, and the desperation of government.
