    Cool VG Soundtrack Thread

I'll start with some compositions made after the Playstation Revolution:

    Artist: Olaf Gustafson

I'm not the biggest fan of the techno subgenre, but this is just good music here. I love it.
These aren't all the songs, just my favorites from this sound suite.

I personally like the man's earlier work even better:

The Age of the Amiga Computer; which included the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo, was the peak of videogame soundtrack in my opinion. People can disagree with me, but it is my opinion

    Cool Re: VG Soundtrack Thread

    Here's some fun trivia:

Videogame BGM that sounds like big label songs:

I looked at the chronology. The likelihood is pretty strong that the game song actually inspired art from this group.
Lovesong is a fine piece and a favorite of mine.

    Elecman's theme from Megaman:

Even the old 8-Bit version for NES was pretty well composed (esp for the time.)
If REM borrowed the idea from Capcom, I won't knock them for it. It's about the music.

    Here are some additional sources:

OverClocked ReMix - Video Game Music Community

A great site with various game music covers. Definitely have a look there.

AmigaRemix - The place for Amiga Game- and Demo-music Remixes!

As the name implies, the above website has downloadable covers of songs from games on the classic Amiga Computer platform.
    Wonderful site to visit.

VGMusic - 30,778 Game Music MIDI files

The Midi Shrine - Game Music MIDI files

These two sites have a number of covers done on the MIDI format.
Although some of them are lousy, there are others that are worth checking out.

Man, video game music is underrated.

    (both are featured on AmigaRemix)

Everyone, give a round of applause to the fine musicians who did these great covers!

    Golden Axe

An old favorite of mine in the hack & slash action genre. So many childhood memories!

    Start Menu Music:

    Stage 1 Theme:

    PS2 Arrange Overture:

    Stage 1 theme:

The Commodore 64 had its own soundtrack too, apparently.
It is...different. Much more synthy. I actually like it quite a bit also,
though it would probably be more appropriate for space shootem up.

(It shows the introductions of the three characters in this upload)

    ****************Edit***************

The box art in the video was used for Golden Axe II, it was actually done by the famous Boris Vallejo,
who also drew the box art for the 2D fighter, Eternal Champions.

    You can view it here.

Great hard rock covers of Super Hang-On:

In the cover of "Sprinter," I was hoping for a little more of a jazz fusion with more saxophone and moog. Still pretty awesome...

Even the cover of "Hard Road," which was my least favorite song from the game, is awesome.

They don't replace the originals, but they are a very nice addition.
It is a little hard to imagine the Super Hang-On soundtrack inspiring music this heavy
with the original being so mellow. An artist that can make this music into
hard rock would have to be of brilliant mind.

    Salamander

"Life Force" is the Japanese name for the title. I chose this image because it had less text cluttering it.

The soundtrack is well done with a nice Roman Gladiator feel to it. "Planet Ratis" is probably my favorite of a good bunch.
"Slash Fighter" is my number two of the classic one.

There is also a very nice jazz fusion suite called, "Konami Kukeiha Club Pro-Fusion - Salamander"

(here's a decent song from that album)

All are available for download at khinsider, and probably Final Fantasy Shrine; they do all the soundtracks from games and television.

Gradius was the series that Salamander was a spinoff of.

Unbelievable that music of this caliber could be made for a Super Nintendo title. It sounds epic. The sound designers took pride in their work

    Epic Pinball

They didn't call it "epic" for nothing. Soundtrack is very rare. I remembered getting it from some
British website. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name. If you need to,
you could extract the audio from the videos using :

    YouTube to MP3 Converter - Video2mp3
