The most influential synth group most people have heard but not heard of, Sweden's (by way of Norway) Royksopp.
Some people remember this as the song from a car insurance company's commercial:

And this Royksopp tune was the opening/start music for an Apple OS (I think it was Panther actually):

More recently, Geico used a group called "The Sounds" in the caveman commercials. Also from Sweden I believe. Good stuff.

There isn't a lot of info about this group other than who founded it, where and when. It is apparently known they had at least four albums.








The next group apparently helped blaze a trail into a new sound.
This electronica subgenre is called spacesynth by its fans.
In spite of its more pronounced resemblance to contemporary techno and electro house,
I actually like the beat of this music quite a bit. I suppose you can think of it as proto techno.
However, it is probably doing a disservice to the music to compare it with modern techno.
One man's opinion. In any case, it is very well composed.

These guys are pretty obscure even though this record was rereleased about 2005 or so.
This awful remix just plain sucks! If you can find the original version of Susie's On The Ball Now by The Three O'Clock, I highly recommend it.

A great blog by a guy in Italy of the name Paul Durango, I believe. A lot of great albums in RAR archive formats there. All kinds of cool stuff.
Even some baroque and classical done on synthesizers!

For everything else, there is always mp3mixx.



I tend to prefer hi-fidelity formats like FLAC and WAV, but they have very reasonable prices for their songs. Not to mention very RARE albums.
It is the only place I know where you can get full albums by PERU and Nova. You can look everywhere for their stuff and not find it anywhere else.
Full albums by these two artists alone are like an exclusive thing to this one store. Also, customer support is very helpful.

And then there is always Dilandau and Rapidlibrary.

I've heard that this song was actually used in a Follywood movie a few years ago.



According to wiki, they are actually from the same neck of the woods as groups like Parachute Club and Men Without Hats. Which is cool.

This group hail from London, same basic area as Zoot Woman & Ladytron. Sound a bit like them too.
