I'd be curious to know what suggestions Amnesty International has to remedy the situation...though I'm sure they are, as they have on many issues, flippantly throwing out negative and misleading sentiments without applying common sense and fair, rational thought. US tax-payers provide free medical care, birth control, clinics....in some areas even mobile clinics that come right to your door.....and a plethora of services that care nothing of your residential status in this country. We fund information campaigns in schools, government assistance centers, neighborhood hubs, bus depots, etc. Short of implementing policies that most certainly would have them attacking us for human rights violations, what is it they suppose the US do? And why are they directing their concerns to the government and not the glorified minority mouthpieces the people AI claim to be concerned about idolize so? If such mouthpieces can start riots about the colors of the wind with the word "Go" I would certainly think they could encourage the women in question to care more about themselves than some agenda-driven from-a-distance group of observers pretends to.
Of course I have no real faith in the last statement...nor faith said mouthpieces would even pretend to direct their energies into such campaigns. That would involve waaayyyyy to much accountability and productive action, with not nearly enough arms to twist and accounts to extort.
