Maternal Deaths Double in US Mostly Because of Poverty and ‘Minorities’

Deaths from pregnancy and childbirth in the United States have doubled in the past 20 years, a development that a human rights group called “Scandalous and disgraceful” Friday. In addition, the rights group said, about 1.7 million women a year, one-third of pregnant women in the United States, suffer from pregnancy-related complications.
Most of the deaths and complications occur among minorities and women in Poverty, it noted.
Amnesty International issued the report Friday that calls on President Obama to take action.
“This country’s extraordinary record of medical advancement makes its haphazard approach to maternal care all the more scandalous and disgraceful,” said Larry Cox, executive director of Amnesty International USA.
The report “Deadly Delivery: The Maternal Health Care Crisis in the USA,” notes the lifetime risk of maternal deaths is greater in the United States than in 40 other countries, including virtually all industrialized nations.

I'd be curious to know what suggestions Amnesty International has to remedy the situation...though I'm sure they are, as they have on many issues, flippantly throwing out negative and misleading sentiments without applying common sense and fair, rational thought. US tax-payers provide free medical care, birth control, clinics....in some areas even mobile clinics that come right to your door.....and a plethora of services that care nothing of your residential status in this country. We fund information campaigns in schools, government assistance centers, neighborhood hubs, bus depots, etc. Short of implementing policies that most certainly would have them attacking us for human rights violations, what is it they suppose the US do? And why are they directing their concerns to the government and not the glorified minority mouthpieces the people AI claim to be concerned about idolize so? If such mouthpieces can start riots about the colors of the wind with the word "Go" I would certainly think they could encourage the women in question to care more about themselves than some agenda-driven from-a-distance group of observers pretends to.

Of course I have no real faith in the last statement...nor faith said mouthpieces would even pretend to direct their energies into such campaigns. That would involve waaayyyyy to much accountability and productive action, with not nearly enough arms to twist and accounts to extort.

African-American women are four times more likely than white women to die from childbirth-related complications.

Racial Discrimination and Economic Obstacles Contribute to Dramatically Elevated Maternal Death Rates for Women of Color in the United States, Says a New Amnesty International Report | CommonDreams.org

What they don't say is that blacks are probably four time more likely to have babies than whites.

l Women of color account for 32 percent of all women in the United States but more than half (51 percent) of uninsured women; this means they are more likely to go into pregnancy with less than optimum health or untreated medical problems.
There's a problem. Why should a taxpaying white(Yes, this article is being racial and so will I) person fund you to have a baby.

This is why Obama wants a Public option. He wants the black community to be taken care of via White taxpayers money.
