Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney will address the largest black civil rights group in the United States next month, the NAACP said Tuesday.
Romney, who squares off against President Barack Obama in November's election, will attend the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, set for July 7-12 in Houston, Texas.
Romney was invited to address the convention shortly after he clinched his party's presidential nomination last month, NAACP spokesman Derek Turner said.
The organization is also hoping Obama, the country's first African-American president, will attend the event. Both he and Senator John McCain addressed the NAACP when they were candidates for the presidency in 2008.
Romney's campaign confirmed he accepted the invitation to speak at the annual convention but provided no further details.
Turner told AFP he expects Romney to "address civil rights" during his speech, "as they are in line with our mission."
The NAACP will be eager to hear Romney's solutions to speed up the sluggish American economic recovery as well. The unemployment rate among blacks stood at 13.6 percent in May, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than five points higher than the national average of 8.2 percent.
Blacks also disproportionately fill the ranks of the poor and the uninsured, two groups which critics say would be severely impacted by Republican efforts to slash federal programs like food stamps in order to curb runaway government spending.
African-Americans are seen as benefiting more from Obama's landmark health care reform law, which aims to provide health insurance to 32 million Americans -- and which Romney has vowed to repeal if he is elected.
According to a Gallup poll in January, 20.9 percent of blacks are uninsured, compared to 11.8 percent of whites. Hispanics topped the chart with 40.7 percent uninsured.
Polls show a tight race between Obama and Romney down the stretch to November, and while Obama is seen as having the black vote comfortably in hand, appealing to African-Americans is important for the Republican challenger.
Romney could score some crucial wins in swing states if enough minority voters turn out for him in places like North Carolina, where about a quarter of the electorate is black and which Obama barely won four years ago thanks in part to huge support among African-Americans.
But a new poll shows Obama's support among blacks in the state slipping.
A survey released June 12 by Public Policy Polling showed one in five blacks voting for Romney. Just five percent of blacks in the state voted for McCain in 2008.

No matter what Romney might say, he will still get hardly any Black votes. (4% if he is lucky) But if Romney promised that within 90 days of the start of his administration he would deport 95% of the illegal alien invaders from our country, thus reopening the jobs they have stolen, to the Black workers who have been displaced from those same jobs, Romney would WIN THE ELECTION!! (Even though the Blacks would still vote their race!)

Why bother pandering to these people? What's Romney afraid of in rejecting their invitation for him to speak? THAT THEY MIGHT NOT VOTE FOR HIM!
If there's one thing that our people can count upon, it's that Merlin Miller of the A3P will never ever be pandering for votes that he knows that he's not going to get away!

Republicans do this all the time and it never works. They can't accept the fact that theirs is essentially a White party. For example, in the 2010 election, according to Dr Paul Gottfried, 81% of GOP voters were White Protestants. That doesn't even include White Catholics, White agnostics, White pagans, etc. Once you add up all those others you get pretty much an all-White party. The GOP elites are not comfortable wit this but the plain fact of the matter is that White people are voting together as a bloc more so than in recent history.

Romney, like virtually all GOP politicians, is a victim of the contagious mental disorder Dostoyevsky wrote about in his diaries. That disease is, even though the Great Russian didn't know it at the time he wrote about it, the disease of Race denial. Its main sympton is that sufferers find it impossible to take their own side in the ongoing Race war.
In his (no doubt ghost-written) memoir, "Decision Point," GW Bush tells us what the worst moment of his presidency was. It was not when he learned for sure that the weapons of mass destruction lie had been exposed, or when he allowed the media to turn the negro savagery during Katrina against him. No, the thing that hurt the Crawford village idiot the most was being called a racist by Kanye West. I know it's hard to believe, but that is what Bush writes.

Even Rush Limbaugh today mentioned that the mass media ignores Black on White Crime and only publicizes rare White or "Hispanic" on Black crime!
Romney can only LOSE votes talking to those establishment stooges!
Romney would get more Black votes by ignoring the pet Blacks and promising White groups to stop immigration and deport all Mexican Illegals!!!

Yesiree .....plus pointing out to the blacks: 1.) Obongo's trying to ram same sex "marriage" down everybody's throats (negro votes doomed Proposition 8 in Calif.); 2.) His constant and embarassing subservience to jews ......(strangely, the average black is far more jew-wise than the average White); and, 3: his absolute and total support of abortion.
