Sikhs can now serve on D.C.’s police force

WASHINGTON — Washington’s police chief on Wednesday gave the green light for turbaned Sikhs to serve as officers, making the capital the first major U.S. city to accommodate the religion’s articles of faith.
The police department said that 4,000 officers have gone through cultural training to sensitize them to the Sikh faith and that the first Sikh American keeping his turban and beard was expected to join the force in August.

“It is difficult enough to find highly qualified police officers. There are very rigid standards,” Cathy Lanier, chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, told a news conference.
“Then to think about something as simple as appearance or a grooming standard that would prevent somebody who is talented enough to meet all that other criteria, it really just doesn’t make sense,” she said.
Sikh men are required by faith to wear a turban and beard and carry a ceremonial sword. The requirements have often conflicted with codes in Western countries that call for men to be clean-shaven or wear assigned headgear.

They're a warlike, no nonsense people in their own habitats in the Punjab, Gujarat, etc. I believe a tenet of their faith is that every man must be armed at all times which means they usually carry daggers. Who knows what the Americanized deracinated types are like, but here's my bet: the more Sikhs you have on the police force, the more Trayvon incidents you'll have.

The British put there natural tendencies to good use keeping Pashto and Hindu alike in line. They're a fearless "stubborn" people ... which is why the Canadian mounties, British Army, etc., let them have their way w/ the turbans long ago. Having rubbed shoulders with them when I was younger on the subcontinent, i can say that, among third worlders, they aren't so bad.

When India goes the way of Yugoslavia and the USSR and splits off into various ethnostates ..... the Sikhs will finally have their homeland again, and I will be most delighted to sign deportation orders for every last one of them in North America under WN regime(s).

What rational human being would want to serve on the District o' Corruption police force? If the Sikhs now flock into the force will they someday stage a "Sikh-out" for pay raises?

What will they think of next? Maybe talibans? Sure, they would be good USA policemen... Judges too... Or maybe next presidents...
