Oh good grief. How is using FLAMMABLE GASOLINE not dangerous either?
You realize we get more radiation every year from coal plants than we ever
do from nuclear plants don't you? The truth is properly engineered nuclear
power is completely safe. The greens have been shrieking hysterically for
decades about nuclear power. There the same ones that want to shut down
all industry in the USA and start up this carbon tax scam.

Do coal fired plants release radiation? Sure they do, it's a by-product of the coal burning process. Every part of the waste is used in everyday stuff like building materials, concrete, asphalt, roofing shingles to name a few. In reality, geothermal energy produces more radiated waste on the low side than the high side of coal burning does. The average amount of radiation released by treating or processing drinking water is higher than the highest amount by a coal plant. There's lot's of stuff considered Technologically-Enhanced, Naturally-Occurring Radioactive Materials or TENORM.

I'm not staunch on a no-nuke policy but, I do realize the incredible dangers from an 'accident'. No one knows how long the exclusion zone will last at Chernobyl or F'shima, and both are still pouring large amounts of radiation into the air. The only reason F'shima's EZ is smaller is because most of the radiation went out to sea, although it could overtake the whole island should the spent fuel pool in reactor #4 partially or fully collapse. If this happens, and it's very likely judging by the pictures available, it's almost certain a chain reaction will occur. There's over 1,600 spent fuel rods in this pool and just a couple hundred feet away is another dangling, spent rod pool with over 6,000 rods in it. There's over 11,000 spent rods plus MOX fuel at the F'shima site. After a year they finally admit they don't know how to address what's already happened, what would they do in the event of failure in pool #4? The result would be a release of radiation 85 times worse than Chernobyl. There's 3 reactors still melting down at F'shima too.

I suppose we could argue the semantics of whether nuclear power is safe or not, but the fact is, we're facing an incredible threat of unprecedented nuclear fallout right now as a result of nuclear energy production. In my own mind, I can't see how we move forward without even having the ability to clean up the past and present. Do we just ignore it? Chernobyl happened over 25 years ago and it's no secret the sarcophagus is not only on the verge of collapse, but a joke in itself. There are holes in it big enough to drive trucks through, and evidently Russia is looking for the rest of the world to pick up the tab for a new sarcophagus to encapsulate the existing one as they don't seem to be doing much about it themselves. Calling it a joke might be a little harsh as they built the thing as fast as they could, with no plans or engineering, but anyone in the US building industry would look at it and say WTF. From what I've seen of it, I wouldn't even walk in the place even if there weren't any radiation exposure risk.

I'm just expressing my thoughts and not trying to pick a fight or argue with anyone.

The Greens are useful idiots of the Communists.

The Carbon Tax is a complete scam, and the Global Warming Fraud was to bring in the Carbon Tax.

How much radiation escapes from Nuclear Power Plants right now? Why is that classified information? Why did the NRC turn off the Radiation Monitors? Why would anyone refuse to monitor DEADLY RADIATION? What could possibly be their motive? Tokyo is outside the danger zone, why is it now Radioactive?

If you set yourself on fire with gasoline fifty miles from my home, then my great great Grandchild will not be born with horrible birth defects. If you cause a Nuclear Disaster 50 miles from my home, then that could be the end of my family.

One single large Nuclear Event could ruin this world immediately, and storing away radioactive waste for generations is going to have the same effect.

Pacific Ocean radiation, earthquake zone, tidal wave zone, 50 years to cool it down, spent fuel, DNA damage.

    Pacific Nuclear Fallout

Most of the world community is still unaware of the extremely profound and far-reaching effects that the Fukushima nuclear disaster has had. If the nations of the world really understood the implications of the actual ‘fallout’ – past, current and future – the current nuclear energy paradigm would be systematically shut down.

Therefore, this begs the question, “Why would such an inherently unsafe technology and unstable design be implemented worldwide in the first place?”

What is clearly at stake is the Pacific Ocean, its shorelines, numerous national economies, as well as myriad ecosystems and aquatic environments.

We are truly saddened by the great loss of marine life and harm to myriad aquatic and shoreline ecosystems. As the nuclear radiation is exported around the Asian Ring of Fire, genetic mutation will begin to affect every form of life — from phytoplankton to whales, from seabirds to mangroves, from dolphins to krill. Everything that lives near the Pacific will be at risk to some degree. Anyone who lives, works or plays in or around the Pacific will be compelled to evaluate their relationship to this great ocean.

No one is required to be alarmed. Anyone who wishes can pretend that none of this is happening and there is nothing to worry about.

I've heard every type of kooky science alarmism you can imagine.

I have been opposed to Nuclear Power my entire life, and both Science and History say I am right.

    Nuclear Power = Genocide

Genocide is bad for White Children!

You might appreciate the irony of these facts, or you might not.

The individuals who advocate a massive genocide of the world's population also advocate nuclear power plants; which are located on fault zones, shorelines, in river flood basins, and near large population centers.

They also point to individuals within the target population who advocate for nuclear power as proof that most of humanity should be killed.

Even if the plan was to have safe nuclear energy, that would never happen anyway,

Thousands were homeless after the earthquake and tidal wave, then thousands more had to evacuate due to radiation contamination (just like will happen in the Federal Union).

Some moved into new safe housing, which turned out to be radioactive as well.

The farms and ranches are contaminated, which means the food is contaminated.

The water is contaminated, the air is contaminated.

How do we escape this mess in OUR Future?

Shut down the nuclear power plants NOW!

“The No. 4 pool is about 100 feet above ground, is structurally damaged and is exposed to the open elements. If an earthquake or other event were to cause this pool to drain this could result in a catastrophic radiological fire involving nearly 10 times the amount of Cs-137 released by the Chernobyl accident.”
