US President Barack Obama said he was "appalled" by Syria's crackdown on Sunday, which activists say killed nearly 140 people, and vowed to step up pressure to isolate President Bashar al-Assad.
In a statement, Obama saluted demonstrators who have taken to the streets as "courageous" and said Syria "will be a better place when a democratic transition goes forward."
"I am appalled by the Syrian government's use of violence and brutality against its own people. The reports out of Hama are horrifying and demonstrate the true character of the Syrian regime," Obama said.

From reading the article, all I see missing are allegations of WMD stockpiles and gassing of civilians. Same tune, different verse. Identical Kosher script.
Ironically, there will be NO mention of the THOUSANDS of civilian casualties when US bombing commences.
Israel is soooooooooo fortunate to have a war dog fight her battles.

I think that Syria's biggest problem is their proximity to Israel, who seems to accuse most of their neighbours of terrorism .
On a side-note President Bashar al-Assad's wife is a British born Muslim . There is a few video interviews with her on Youtube . I don't know how much influence she has, but she is educated and seems to be reasonable.
