African-American hands out a 'whites-only' scholarship

DALLAS - On the surface, it was a simple scholarship presentation Thursday afternoon.

But, the $500 grant Brendan Baird won is for whites only and Marcus Carter, an African-American, awarded it.

"Just because you don't benefit directly doesn't mean it isn't beneficial," Carter, 27, explained.

The U.S. Army veteran is the vice president of the Former Majority Association for Equality, a group that awards scholarships solely to white men.

Good for him. Proper attitude and good sentiment. Blacks should realize that what is beneficial for a rank and file white person who just wants to succeed, is beneficial to everyone. To any Blacks out there who want to see whites succeed and have white families, I want to take this time to say thank you for having that mentality. It matters.

That's certainly nice of him.

However, our race has problems which go far deeper than a lack money, and can't really be solved until a lot of the basic assumptions people have are re-evaluated. That's what makes it such a thorny issue.

I am truly saddened that our younger folk do not remember the days of racial segregation in the US nor have they been told of the realities.

There was FAR more MUTUAL respect and FAR LESS hatred. Negros had their own neighborhoods, schools, churches, and businesses...as did whites. Around 70% of negro babies were born into two-parent homes and about the same graduated from highschool. Most adult negros worked as did some of the youngsters. Sure, there were some "welfare queens" who never had any desire nor intent to work but even the negros looked down on them.

Negros and white people rarely even THOUGHT about cross-breeding! Blacks frowned upon the idea as much as whites.

In a nut shell, Negros had some self-respect...which they rightfully earned.

Whites of the time shared similar (slightly higher) rates of two-parent homes and graduation. Whites DID receive a bit of preferential treatment regarding employment although most jobs were open to negros who presented with EQUAL QUALIFICATIONS. In fact, negros holding legitimate credentials were held in very high esteem by the whites.

Were things ideal? Absolutely not! Multiple races can NEVER successfully co-exist sharing territory and government. Negros are negros and whites are white. All the laws in the Universe cannot change that biological fact.

Integration and all its accompanying baggage destroyed the negro's best chance for civilisation.

If you ever get a chance, talk with older negros and listen to what THEY have to say about those days of more discrimination but less hate.
