Ron Paul Backs Industrial Hemp Farming Bill
(Real physical production in the economy. )
House Bill 1831, The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2011, would exclude low potency varieties of marijuana from federal prohibition. If approved, this measure will grant state legislatures the authority to license and regulate the commercial production of hemp as an industrial and agricultural commodity.
(I am not a pothead, nor ever have been, but the benefits of this as a cash crop are undeniable and good for the American economy. )
Several states — including North Dakota, Montana, and Vermont– have enacted regulations to allow for the cultivation of hemp under state law. However, none of these laws can be implemented without federal approval. Passage of HR 1831 would remove existing federal barriers and allow states that wish to regulate commercial hemp production the authority to do so.
If "our" Federal government ultimately rules by decree, what is the purpose of State government?
Actually, the question was answered in the 1860's.
Without going into a long-winded discussion of US history, the topic of state's rights began before formation of the Republic. One of my ancestors was invited to participate in the writing of a constitution but declined the offer because he felt too many attendees were hell-bent toward formation of an oppressive, overly-powerful central government.
If any of those old, dead white guys could see what their descendents allowed their creation to become..............
I hope there is no afterlife. I would be too ashamed to face my forefathers.
