[TURNER, L., 1982, p. 23] Her first agent, when she was 15, was Zeppo Marx, who had dropped out of the Marx Brothers comedy group to concentrate on business ends of Hollywood. A very few individuals have so much talent and beauty that they can still have careers without the casting couch, but the bottom 90 percent are likely to be victimized by the casting couch.

There's also a "casting couch" for the porn industry, which I suspect gets a lot more use than the usual Hollywood casting couch and which is probably in dire need of a good cleaning.

A lot of actors and actresses from that generation smoked, and almost all the ones who smoked died relatively young. She reportedly recovered from mouth cancer.

Her wiki page mentions hepatitis, which is common among drug users with some rumors about AIDS, which also can come from a shared needle.

And another story mentions she had a bisexual husband who died in 1985 (probably from AIDS).

Declining health and death

In 1980, Blake was diagnosed with a form of mouth cancer. A former smoker of two-to-three packs a day,[4] in 1982 Blake spoke against smoking by testifying for new warning labels for cigarette packages, before a United State House of Representatives subcommittee: "I am a victim of oral cancer, a victim of cigarette smoking. When my doctor told me I had cancer of the mouth, I didn't believe it. I had never even heard of cancer of the mouth, yet I had it."[5] She told the subcommittee: "I believe that I would not have smoked had I seen a label on a cigarette package or in a cigarette ad that said 'Warning: Cigarette smoking may cause death from heart disease, cancer or emphysema."[5]

It was widely reported in the news media that she had died of AIDS and had contracted HIV. According to her doctor, Sacramento, California, internist Dr. Lou Nishimura, she had throat cancer at the time of her death, but he added, "That wasn't the reason that she died." [6] Her death certificate, however, listed the immediate cause as cardiopulmonary arrest due to liver failure and CMV hepatitis.[7]

Gunsmoke: Amanda Blake

Amanda Blake died in August of 1989. The story of her death appeared in both the September 4, 1989 and November 20, 1989 issues of People Magazine. In the later issue, Blake's picture was on the cover. It wasn't on the cover the first time. Why? Her death was revealed to be due to AIDS, probably contracted from her bisexual husband, Mark Spaeth. Spaeth died of the disease one year after he and Blake were married. In the first announcement, her death was attributed to be due to a recurrance of her cancer. I am an avid amateur photographer and I can tell you for sure that their 'recruiters' are cruising the modeling sites looking for young women to ply with their thousand dollar a 'session' offers...

If soliciting for prostitution is illegal, then why isn't recruiting for the 'adult film' industry, for women to have sex, illegal as well ??? ... They are offering young women BIG bucks to have sex... on camera... If there is a loophole in the law, why hasn't it been CLOSED? ... Same reason there's no progress being made in the war on drugs: too many well-connected people in high places making BIG money from it, money that makes its way into the re-election coffers of the people's representatives.

Clara Bow, renowned for her promiscuity, was the sex goddess (the "It girl") of the late silent screen era. Like many who have the burden of being "sex" stars, she repeatedly collapsed with nervous breakdowns. She was built to fame by Benjamin Schulberg, head of a film company called Preferred Pictures. "To launch her," note Joe Morella and Edward Epstein:

"Schulberg instructed his photographer [in 1923] to take a series of provocative

Eventually, in 1925, Schulberg and his company moved under the wing of larger Jewish film moguls Adolph Zukor and Jesse Lasky at Paramount Pictures, at the time the largest movie studio in Hollywood. [MORELLA/EPSTEIN, 1976, p. 69-70] Bow's paramours were numerous, but perhaps the most publicized was her affair with "showman Harry Richman," "Mr. Broadway," "a Cincinnati-born Jewish boy ... By his own admission he often wined, dined, and bedded down as many as four showgirls in one night. And Harry was generous. He shared his conquests with his pals ...
