Thread: Woman given $835 dollar ticket for parking on the grass

This is utterly ridiculous especially when right now most American citizens are struggling paycheck to paycheck to support their families. There are a lot of people who are barely able to make $835 a month these days.


It's all about raising revenue for the city officials like Bauermeister, no doubt to line his pockets with.

The US Constitution is supposed to protect Americans from cruel or unusual punishment.

Giving someone an $835 parking ticket definitely qualifies as "cruel" in my book.

Which is acting as third party debt collectors for the local bureaucracy, but hey, it's better than being productive and working for a living like the citizens have to. Just like in Washington D.C., the Oompa Loompas who run the local town halls just love to pass laws from which they exempt themselves. I love how you and the other authoritarian, Elementary School, Hall Monitor, Teacher's Pet types just love to justify ANY governmental excess of penalty and/or force because "it's the law". Stalin starved over 10 million people in the Ukraine in the early '30s, but he wasn't breaking any laws either because he and his communist cabal wrote the laws, so according to your pea-brained logic, it was ok. Since the government is supposed to be working for the people, it would be more fitting to attach excessive penalties to THEIR malefactions so that THEY think twice about misbehaving.

"Public Servant" (what a joke!) Don Bauermeister should be fined $100,000 for using the limitless resources of the government to attack citizens like Laura Sherman who DIDN'T CAUSE ANY DAMAGE TO ANYBODY OR ANYBODY'S PROPERTY, instead of going after REAL criminals, such as illegal aliens and drug dealers. The local cops won't do that though because they would then face much more potential danger going after the real criminals who, unlike Laura Sherman, might just retaliate, and besides, it would take away from the cops' quality, doughnut eating time. Harrassing Laura Sherman and stealing $835 from her to fatten his and his cronies' wallets is much easier for Bauermeister too since, if he weren't a government lawyer leeching off of the taxpayers, he'd instead have to actually be a productive citizen and work for a living.

If the Council Bluffs politburo wants to have designated, no parking areas, then they should be CLEARLY marked, which apparently wasn't the case here. But it's much easier and more profitable for the local tax wasters to entrap unsuspecting motorists with outlandish and excessive fines. Of course, that's assuming they really cared about any local quality of life other than their own in their capacity as commissars, which is clearly not true.

Lastly, for the decent citizens with critical faculties who are appalled at the seemingly large number of posts supporting the Council Bluff's travesty of justice in this thread, take heart: whilst some are legitimately from pinheads, most others are from probably only a couple of posters with lots of sockpuppets working for the government in an attempt to make you THINK there are more people who support Bauermeister and his Council Bluffoons than there really are.

No kidding. How can any sane person say that a ticket over $100 is reasonable?

I suppose some grossly overpaid yuppies in the high six figure incomes may not mind a $500 ticket, but how about a little compassion for all the people who don't have that kind of money?
