Information from Connie Fogal
American citizens
from four Northwestern States
have BLOCKED
a huge EXXON (Esso) mega-shipment destined
for the TarSands.
For information, google 'giant alberta bound oil sands' which should get you to the Portland Oregonian at www.oregonlive.com
Or: www.allagainstthehaul.org
a citizen group.
The story is HUGE:
A giant TarSands FACTORY
has been built - IN KOREA -
because of course we can't build factories in Canada!!
And this TarSands factory is being shipped
in huge 'modules'
TO THE TARSANDS ...
From Korea,
across the Pacific to the west coast of the United States at Vancouver Washington.
Then BY BARGE up the Columbia River,
and OFFLOADED in the town of Lewiston Idaho..
There are 34 modules, each as wide as a two lane highway, some 30 feet tall, and about 60 yards long... These are the FIRST of hundreds of modules that will be shipped from Korea to Alberta,
and the people of Idaho don't want this
and they have BLOCKED THEM in Lewiston.
Exxon's plan is to move the modules to Alberta on giant trucks; but the modules are so big they can't go through overpasses, so they have to take them through Idaho and Montana on backroads, which will have to be shut down,
and sometimes widened,
because these things are two-lanes wide.
It would take NINE nights for each module to go the 500 miles to the Canadian border...
But Exxon screwed up ...
They don't have the proper 'highway permits' and the people of Idaho and Montana have blocked the trucks, saying they don't want their rivers and roads destroyed transporting these horrible machines to, of all horrible places, the TarSands...
We Canadians can join this great fight: I am asking everyone who gets this to contact your local member of the Corporate Media and ask them to tell this story. I think Canada's Corporate Media has already been ordered not to cover this story,
but please ask them, see what they say, and then go from there...
and contact your federal and provincial politicians too...
and tell your friends...
