Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's airplane leaves the Damascus airport for Algeria, September 19, 2010.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, after a sojourn in the Algerian capital, has set off for New York, where he is to address the UN General Assembly.
Ahmadinejad flew out of Algiers on Saturday evening following a meeting with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika after a visit with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus earlier in the day, the IRNA news agency reported.
The Iranian leader is scheduled to deliver a speech at the 65th UN General Assembly session, which officially opened on Tuesday at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
The annual summit is to focus on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG Summit) from September 20 to 22.
The General Assembly will then be convened from September 23 to 30, while the Security Council meeting is scheduled for September 23.
Ahmadinejad will also be delivering an address to the MDG Summit.
Ahmadinejad's top advisor, Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi, said the president will give interviews to US media outlets and meet US scholars and intellectuals and Iranian immigrants during his trip to New York.
In his talks, the Iranian president will focus on the need to change the current materialistic world management system into one based on spiritual and humanitarian values, Hashemi said.

Full text of President Ahmadinejad's speech at UNUnited Nations, New York, Sept 24, IRNA -- The following is the full text of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's speech delivered to the 65th annual meeting of United Nations General assembly in New York on Thursday.
Mr. President, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am grateful to the Almighty God who granted me the opportunity to appear before this world assembly once again. I wish to begin by commemorating those who lost their lives in the horrible flood in Pakistan and express my heartfelt sympathy with the families who lost their loved ones as well as with the people and the government of Pakistan. I urge everyone to assist their fellow men and women as a humane duty.
Let me thank H.E. Mr. Ali Abdussalam Treki, the President of the the sixty- fourth session of the United Nations General Assembly, for all his efforts during his tenure. I also would like to congratulate H.E. Mr. Joseph Deiss, the President of the sixty-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly and wish him all success.
In the past years, I spoke to you about some of the hopes and concerns, including family crises, security, human dignity, world economy, climate change as well as the aspiration for justice and lasting peace.
After about one hundred years of domination, the system of Capitalism and the existing world order has proved to be unable to provide appropriate solution to the problems of societies, thus coming to an end. I shall try to examine the two main causes of this failure and picture some features of the ideal future order.
A) Attitudes and Beliefs
As you are well aware, the divine prophets had the mission to call everyone to monotheism, love and justice and show mankind the path to prosperity. They invite men to contemplation and knowledge in order to better appreciate the truth and to avoid atheism and egoism. The very nature of the message of all prophets is one and the same. Every messenger endorsed the messenger before him and gave glad tidings about the prophet to come, and presented a more complete version of the religion in accordance with the capacity of the man at the time. This continued up to the last messenger of God who presented the perfect and all inclusive religion.
In opposition to that, the egotist and the greedy stood up against this clear call, revolting against the message.
Nimrod countered Hazrat Abraham, Pharaoh countered Hazrat Moses and the greedy countered Hazrat Jesus Christ and Hazrat Mohammad (Peace be upon them all). In the recent centuries, the human ethics and values have been rejected as a cause for backwardness. They were even portrayed as opposing wisdom and science because of the earlier infliction on man by the proclaimers of religion in the dark ages of the West
Man's disconnection from Heaven detached him from his true self.
Man with his potentials for understanding the secrets of the universe, his instinct for seeking truth, his aspirations for justice and perfection, his quest for beauty and purity and his capacity to represent God on earth was reduced to a creature limited to the materialistic world with a mission to maximize individualistic pleasures. Human instinct, then, replaced true human nature.
Human beings and nations were considered rivals and the happiness of an individual or a nation was defined in collision with, and elimination or suppression of others. Constructive evolutionary cooperation was replaced with a destructive struggle for survival.
The lust for capital and domination replaced monotheism which is the gate to love and unity.
This widespread clash of the egoist with the divine values gave way to slavery and colonialism. A large portion of the world came under the domination of a few western States. Tens of millions of people were taken to slavery and tens of millions of families were shattered as a result. All the resources, the rights and the cultures of the colonized nations were plundered. Lands were occupied and the indigenous people were humiliated and mass- murdered.
Yet, nations rose up, colonialism was alienated and the independence of the nations was recognized. Thus, the hope for respect, prosperity and security was revived amongst nations. In the beginning of the past century nice talks about freedom, human rights and democracy created hopes for healing the deep wounds of the past. Today, however, not only those dreams are not realized, but memories, even at times worse than before, have been recorded.
As a result of the two World Wars, the occupation of Palestine, the Korean and the Vietnam's Wars, the Iraqi war against Iran, the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq as well as many wars in Africa, hundreds of millions of people were killed, wounded or displaced.
Terrorism, illicit drugs, poverty and the social gaps increased. The dictatorial and coup d'etat governments in Latin America committed unprecedented crimes with the support of the West.
Instead of disarmament, the proliferation and stockpiling of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons expanded, putting the world under a bigger threat. As a result, the very same old goals of colonialists and the slave masters were, this time round, pursued with a new facade.
B) The Global Management and Ruling Structures
The League of Nations and, then, the United Nations were established with the promise to bring about peace, security and the realization of human rights, which in fact meant a global management.
One can analyze the current governance of the world by examining three events:
First, the event of the II September 2001 which has affected the whole world for almost a decade.
All of a sudden, the news of the attack on the twin towers was broadcast using numerous footages of the incident.
Almost all governments and known figures strongly condemned this incident.
But then a propaganda machine came into full force; it was implied that the whole world was exposed to a huge danger, namely terrorism, and that the only way to save the world would be to deploy forces into Afghanistan.
Eventually Afghanistan, and shortly thereafter Iraq were occupied.
Please take note:
It was said that some three thousands people were killed on the II September for which we are all very saddened. Yet, up until now, in Afghanistan and Iraq hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, millions wounded and displaced and the conflict is still going on and expanding.
In identifying those responsible for the attack, there were three viewpoints.
1- That a very powerful and complex terrorist group, able to successfully cross all layers of the American intelligence and security, carried out the attack. This is the main viewpoint advocated by American statesmen.
2- That some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in order also to save the Zionist regime.
The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view.
3- It was carried out by a terrorist group but the American government supported and took advantage of the situation. Apparently, this viewpoint has fewer proponents.
The main evidence linking the incident was a few passports found in the huge volume of rubble and a video of an individual whose place of domicile was unknown but it was announced that he had been involved in oil deals with some American officials. It was also covered up and said that due to the explosion and fire no trace of the suicide attackers was found.
There remain, however, a few questions to be answered:
1- Would it not have been sensible that first a thorough investigation should have been conducted by independent groups to conclusively identify the elements involved in the attack and then map out a rational plan to take measures against them?
2- Assuming the viewpoint of the American government, is it rational to launch a classic war through widespread deployment of troops that led to the death of hundreds of thousands of people to counter a terrorist group?
3- Was it not possible to act the way Iran countered the Riggi terrorist group who killed and wounded 400 innocent people in Iran. In the Iranian operation no innocent person was hurt.
It is proposed that the United Nations set up an independent fact-finding group for the event of the II September so that in the future expressing views about it is not forbidden.
I wish to announce here that next year the Islamic Republic of Iran will host a conference to study terrorism and the means to confront it. I invite officials, scholars, thinkers, researchers and research institutes of all countries to attend this conference.
Second, is the occupation of the Palestinian territories
The oppressed people of Palestine have lived under the rule of an occupying regime for 60 years, been deprived of freedom, security and the right to self- determination, while the occupiers are given recognition. On a daily basis, the houses are being destroyed over the heads of innocent women and children. People are deprived of water, food and medicine in their own homeland. The Zionists have imposed five all-out wars on the neighboring countries and on the Palestinian people.
The Zionists committed the most horrible crimes against the defenseless people in the wars against Lebanon and Gaza.
The Zionist regime attacked a humanitarian flotilla in a blatant defiance of all international norms and kills the civilians.
This regime which enjoys the absolute support of some western countries regularly threatens the countries in the region and continues publicly announced assassination of Palestinian figures and others, while Palestinian defenders and those opposing this regime are pressured, labeled as terrorists and anti Semites. All values, even the freedom of expression, in Europe and in the United States are being sacrificed at the altar of Zionism.
Solutions are doomed to fail because the right of the Palestinian people is not taken into account.
Would we have witnessed such horrendous crimes if instead of recognizing the occupation, the sovereign right ofthe Palestinian people had been recognized?
Our unambiguous proposition is the return of the Palestinian refugees to their home land and the reference to the vote of the people of Palestine to exercise their sovereignty and decide on the type of governance.
Third, is the nuclear energy
Nuclear energy is clean and cheap and a heavenly gift which is amongst the most suitable alternatives to cut the pollutions emanating from fossil fuels.
The Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT) allows all member States to use nuclear energy without limits and the International Atomic Energy Agency is mandated to provide member States with technical and legal support.
The nuclear bomb is the worst inhumane weapon and which must totally be eliminated. The NPT prohibits its development and stockpiling and calls for nuclear disarmament.
Nonetheless, note what some of the permanent members of the Security Council and nuclear bomb holders have done:
They have equated nuclear energy with the nuclear bomb, and have distanced this energy from the reach of most of nations by establishing monopolies and pressuring the IAEA. While at the same time, they have continued to maintain, expand and upgrade their own nuclear arsenals.
This has entailed the following:
Not only the nuclear disarmament has not been realized but also nuclear bombs have been proliferated in some regions, including by the occupying and intimidating Zionist regime.
I would like here to propose that the year 20II be proclaimed the year of nuclear disarmament and 'Nuclear Energy for all, Nuclear Weapons for None'.
In all these cases the United Nations has been unable to take any effective course of action. Unfortunately, in the decade proclaimed as the 'International Decade for the Culture of Peace' hundreds of thousands were killed and injured as a result of war, aggression and occupation, and hostilities and antagonism increased.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Very recently the world witnessed the ugly and inhumane act of burning the Holy Quran.
The Holy Quran is the Divine Book and the eternal miracle of the Prophet of lslam. It calls for worshipping the One God, justice, compassion toward people, development and progress, reflection and thinking, defending the oppressed and resisting against the oppressors; and it names with respect the previous Messengers of God, like Noah, Abraham, Isaaq, Joseph, Moses and Jesus Christ (Peace be Upon them all) and endorses them.. They burned Quran to bum all these truths and good judgments. However, the truth could not be burned. Quran is eternal because God and truth are everlasting. This act and any other act which widens the gap and distances between nations is evil. We should wisely avoid playing into the hands of Satan. On behalf o f the Iranian nation I pay respect to all Divine Books and their followers. This is the Quran and this is the Bible. I pay respect to both o f them.
Esteemed Friends,
For years the inefficiency of the capitalism and the existing world management and structures has been exposed and the majority of States and nations have been on a quest for fundamental changes and for the prevalence of justice in global relations.
The cause of the United Nation's ineptitude is in its unjust structure. Major power is monopolized in the Security Council due to the veto privilege, and the main pillar of the Organization, namely the General Assembly, is marginalized.
In the past several decades, at least one of the permanent members of the Security Council has always been a party to the disputes.
The veto advantage grants impunity to aggression and occupation; How could, therefore, one expect competence while both the judge and the prosecutor are a party to the dispute?
Had Iran enjoyed veto privilege, would the Security Council and the IAEA Director General have taken the same position in the nuclear issue?
Dear Friends,
The United Nations is the key center for coordinating the common global management. Its structure needs to be reformed in a manner that all independent States and nations be able to participate in the global governance actively and constructively.
The veto privilege should be revoked and the General Assembly should be the highest body and the Secretary-General should be the most independent official and all his positions and activities should be taken with the approval of the General Assembly and should be directed towards promoting justice and eliminating discrimination.
The Secretary-General should not come under pressure from powers and/or the country hosting the Organization for his stating the truth and administration of justice.
It is suggested that the General Assembly should, within one year and in the framework of an extraordinary session, finalize the reformation of the Organization's structure.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has clear suggestions in this regard and stands ready to participate actively and constructively in the process.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I announce clearly that the occupation of other countries under the pretext of freedom and democracy is an unforgivable crime.
The world needs the logic of compassion and justice and inclusive participation instead oflogic offorce, domination, unilateralism, war and intimidation.
The world needs to be governed by virtuous people like the Divine Prophets.
The two vast geographical spheres, namely Africa and Latin America, have gone through historic developments during the past decades. The new approaches in these two continents, which are based on increasing level of integration and unity as well as on localizing the growth and development models, have born considerable fruits to the 'peoples of those regions. The awareness and wisdom of the leaders of these two continents has overcome the regional problems and crises without the domineering interference of non-regional powers.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has expanded its relations with the Latin America and Africa in all aspects in recent years.
And about the glorious Iran,
The Tehran Declaration was a hugely constructive step in confidence building efforts which was made possible through the admirable good will by the governments of Brazil and Turkey along with the sincere cooperation of the Iranian government. Although the Declaration received inappropriate reaction by some and was followed by an unlawful resolution, it is still valid.
We have observed the regulations of the IAEA more than our commitments, yet, we have never submitted to illegally imposed pressures nor will we ever do so.
It has been said that they want to pressure Iran into a dialogue. Well, firstly, Iran has always been ready for a dialogue based on respect and justice. Secondly, methods based on disrespecting nations have long become ineffective. Those who have used intimidation and sanctions in response to the clear logic of the Iranian nation are in real terms destroying the remaining credibility of the Security Council and the trust of nations for this body, proving once and again how unjust is the function of the Council.
When they threaten a great nation such as Iran which is known throughout history for its scientists, poets, artists and philosophers and whose culture and civilization is synonymous to purity, submission to God and seeking justice, how can they ever expect that other nations grow confidence on them?
It goes without saying that domineering methods in managing the world has failed. Not only has the era of slavery and colonialism and dominating the world passed, the path to the reviving old Empires are blocked, too.
We have announced that we stand ready for a serious and free debate with the American Statesmen to express our transparent views on issues of importance to the world in this very venue.
It is proposed here that in order to have a constructive dialogue, an annual free debate be organized within the General Assembly.
In conclusion,
Friends and Colleagues,
The Iranian nation and the majority of the world's nations and governments are against the current discriminatory management of the world.
The inhumane nature of this management has put it at a dead-end and requires a major overhaul.
Reforming the world's affairs and bringing about tranquility and prosperity requires the participation of all, pure thoughts and the divine and humane management.
We are all of the idea that:
Justice is the basic element for peace, durable security and the spread of love among peoples and nations. It is in the justice that mankind seeks the realization o f his aspirations, rights and dignity, since he is wary of oppression, humiliation and ill treatment.
The true nature of mankind is manifested in the love for other fellow humans and love for all the good in the world. Love is the best foundation for establishing relation amongst people and amongst nations.
As Vahshi Bafqi, the great Iranian poet, says: 'From the fountain of youth, drink thousand sips Y ou'll still die if you don't have love's grip'
In making a world full of purity, safety and prosperity people are not rivals but companions.
Those who see their happiness but in the sorrow of others and their welfare and safety but in others' insecurity, those who see themselves superior to others, are out of the path of humanity and are in evil's course.
Economy and materialistic means are only some tools to serve others, to create friendship and strengthen human connections for spiritual perfection. They are not tools for show-off or means of dominating others.
Men and women complements each other and family unit with pure, loving and long-lasting relation of the spouses in its center is the guarantee for the continuity and the bringing up generations, for true pleasures, for spreading love and for reforming of the societies.
Woman is a reflection of God's beauty and is the source of love and caring. She is the guardian o f purity and exquisiteness o f the society.
The tendency to toughen the souls and behaviors of women deprives them from their very basic right of being a loving mother and a caring wife. It would result in a more violent society with irreversible defects.
Freedom is a divine right that should serve peace and human perfection.
Pure thoughts and the will of the righteous are keys to the gates of a pure life full of hope, liveliness and beauty.
This is the promise of God that the earth will be inherited by the pure and the righteous. And the people free from selfishness will take up the management of the world. Then, there will be no trace of sorrow, discrimination, poverty, insecurity and aggression. The time for true happiness and for the blossoming of the true nature of humankind, the way God has intended, will arrive.
All those seeking for justice and all the free spirits have been waiting for this moment and have promised such glorious time.
The complete human, the true servant of God and the true friend of the mankind whose father was from the generation of the beloved Prophet of Islam and whose mother was from the true believers of the Jesus Christ, shall wait along with Jesus the son of Marry and the other righteous to appear on those brilliant times and assist the humanity.
In welcoming them we should join ranks and seek justice.
Praise to Love and worship, praise to justice and freedom, praise to the true humanity, the complete human, the true companion of the humankind and peace be upon you and all the righteous and the pure.
Thank you .

British author suspects Mossad involvement in 9/11London, Sept 25, IRNA – British author and writer Alan Hart suspected that Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency was involved in the 9/11 attacks in the US in 2001 and it may have been even a joint conspiracy with American neo-cons.
I think there is irrefutable visual and expert evidence that the Twin Towers, like Building 7, were pre-wired for controlled demolition,” said Hart, indicating it was ground explosions not the planes that brought the skyscrapers tumbling down.
In an interview with IRNA, the former Middle East chief correspondent for ITN news and presenter for BBC’s Panorama program raised two scenarios about the likely involvement of Israel’s Mossad, which is notorious for carrying out clandestine operations around the world.
“It’s not impossible that 9/11 started out as an Arab/Muslim idea. But even if this was the case, the Mossad would have had an inside track very quickly,” said Hart, who has authored such books as a trilogy entitled ‘Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews'.
“From almost the moment of the Zionist state’s birth, the Mossad put great effort into placing agents inside every Arab regime, every Arab military and security establishment and every Palestinian and other Arab liberation movement,” he said.
“Many of the Mossad’s best and most effective agents were Moroccan and other North African Jews because they could pose most perfectly as Arabs.”
Hart said that the question in this scenario is whether Mossad told anyone, adding that his own speculation is that it told “some in the CIA and a few of Zionism’s neo-con associates, Jews and non-Jews, including Vice President Cheney” as well as the likes of Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Perle.
“Mossad could have asked, ‘What do we do about this?’ And the answer could have been something like, “We’ll use it for the Pearl Harbor-like pretext we need’,” he suggested.
The alternative, Hart said, was that 9/11 was a joint Israeli/Mossad and American/neo-con conspiracy because of the fact that “some of the Arab/Muslim plotters, actual or alleged, were under surveillance by various Western intelligence agencies for years.”
“The agencies who were tracking them as possible/probable terrorists included those of America, Germany and Israel,” he said.
“In this scenario, Mossad was actually running the show with key American neo-cons fixed things in America to make sure that the 9/11 attack was successful,” the British author told IRNA.
He said that although it was pure speculation on his part, he did not believe that President Bush was in the fixing loop but that “Cheney was most probably in control of the American executive oversight of what was essentially a Mossad false flag operation.”
“Who else could have authorized the blocking of President Bush’s electronic communications with his defense secretary, Rumsfeld, for a critical period?” was a point he made.
In a speech to the UN General Assembly, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suggested that some segments within the US government orchestrated the 9/11 attack and said that “the majority of the American people as well as most nations and politicians around the world agree with this view.'
But Hart lamented that he did not believe that President Ahmadinehad was correct about it being the majority view yet although “I wish that was the case but it is not.”
“To my knowledge the polls indicate that about one-third of Americans do not buy their government's story. That number is growing but it is nowhere near a majority,” he said.

More German mid-size companies eager to enter Iran's market: dailyBerlin, Sep 25, IRNA -- A growing number of German mid-size companies are trying to enter the lucrative Iranian market amid western sanctions, the Berlin-based daily Der Tagesspiegel reported Saturday.
There is a shift in German business ties with Iran from big to mid-size companies,
according to the head of the German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Michael
Tockuss.
German exports to Iran rose significantly during the first half of this year despite
the imposition of sanctions over Tehran's nuclear policy.
German companies sold goods worth 1.85 billion euros to Iran, primarily machines,
chemical products and metal during the first six months of this year, up by 14 percent from the same corresponding period in 2009.
Meanwhile, imports from Iran surged 88 percent to 280 million euros.
Mid-size firms in Germany, among them many family-owned companies, feel less prone to American political pressure than large German companies which have strong business interests in the US.
Meanwhile, the business newspaper Handelsblatt reported earlier in the day that German companies have been the target of 'massive blackmailing' by the US to end their business contacts with Iran.
Exports from Germany to Iran reached 3.7 billion euros last year, according to official figures.
Germany remains an important trading partners for Iran, ranking third behind China and the United Arab Emirates in 2008.
Nearly nine percent of all Iranian imports came from Germany.
Numerous major German companies are operating in Iran, including Linde, BASF, Lurgi, Krupp, Siemens, ZF Friedrichshafen, Mercedes, Volkswagen and MAN.
Around 50 German firms have their own affiliates in Iran and more than 12,000 firms have their own trade representatives in the country.
Over 40,000 jobs in Germany are directly or indirectly affected by German- Iranian trade.

I don't usually read DebkaFile articles, but someone linked to one somewhere, announcing another US aircraft carrier had arrived on station in the Persian Gulf. On the ticker it also announced that President Ahmandinejad had talked with his Saudi counterpart twice in the last week. If Iran and the Saudi's can work out their differences, it'll be good for both of them.
I'd not realized how much animosity and difference exists between Iran and Saudi Arabia until fairly recently.
The Loony Leftists claim that they have a right to murder anyone they don't like, or anyone who could embarrass them, or anyone who's death could profit them.

OK even if Iran has weapons of mass destruction(where have i heard that one before, lol) how will they launch them? Do they have rockets capable of hitting Western targets?
Next Neo-con Target – Iran
Part 1
By Deanna Spingola
We repeatedly hear claims from the Propaganda Ministry that Iran, the current “axis of evil,” is developing devastating nuclear power and for this reason deserves sanctions and a warning from the U.S. which, if unheeded, may ultimately result in a “shock and awe” air invasion targeting strategic facilities resulting in inevitable collateral damage, a more socially acceptable word for catastrophic numbers of dead civilians. The real goal is total dominance of the entire oil-rich Middle East through profit-producing war accompanied by expensive reconstruction. There is more profit in death and destruction than there is in life and production.
Dick Cheney was Secretary of Defense in the administration of George H. W. Bush, from March 1989 to January 1993 during which time he directed Operation Just Cause in Panama and Operation Desert Storm in the Middle East. In 1992, the Pentagon, under Cheney, paid Brown & Root Services, a private company, $3.9 million to provide a classified document detailing how they could supply goods and services to American troops in potential war zones around the world. Later that very same year, the Pentagon spent an additional $5 million with BRS to update their report. They immediately received a five year contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “to work alongside American GIs in places like Zaire, Haiti, Somalia, Kosovo, the Balkans, and Saudi Arabia.” [1]
Brown & Root Services had been acquired by Halliburton in 1962, a major company in the burgeoning military/industrial complex. As Defense Secretary under George H. W. Bush, Cheney created an “unprecedented lucrative market for the firm he would go on to head - Halliburton.” [2]
Always closely allied to greedy politicians, Texas based BRS, a huge campaign contributor, built roads, harbors, landing strips and military bases in South Vietnam from 1962 to 1972. BRS, who paid LBJ’s 1948 campaign expenses, had a long relationship with war hawk Lyndon B. Johnson, U.N. devotee, [3] who used the Tonkin Bay incident (read his remarks to Congress) to escalate the Vietnam War after JFK’s unfortunate death (Johnson chose the Warren Commission members). “The abuse of political influence is endemic to Brown & Root, a pathology that repeats itself decade after decade.” [4] Texas appears to be a unique spawning ground.
After Cheney left the Defense Department on January 20, 1993, he became a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) until October 1995 when this life-long government insider became chairman and CEO of Halliburton who hired him for his Capital Hill cronyism and Pentagon contacts; they were not disappointed. Under Cheney’s direction, Halliburton, from 1995-2000, increased its taxpayer-insured, Export-Import bank loans from $100 million to $3.8 billion in addition to nearly doubling the government contract business. The company became one of the Pentagon’s top contractors. By 1999, the Pentagon had spent over $1.2 billion with BRS. Then in May 1999, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers gave BRS another five year contract worth $731 million for services in the Balkans. [5]
President Bill Clinton stated in his Executive Order #12957, dated March 15, 1995, “that the actions and policies of the Government of Iran constituted an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States, and hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.” That Executive Order entitled “Prohibiting Certain Transactions With Respect to the Development of Iranian Petroleum Resources” [6]which prohibited “certain transactions with respect to the development of Iranian petroleum resources” by any U.S. citizen or company. Members of Congress were aware of this order and it was published in the Federal Register.
The Executive Order notwithstanding, Halliburton CEO Cheney lobbied congressional cronies against sanctioning Iran so that his company could do business with this “axis of evil.” Cheney went to the Middle East in March 1996, where he spoke to a group of mostly U.S. businessmen. He said “that Congress should ease sanctions in Iran and Libya to foster better relationships.” He further stated: “Let me make a generalized statement about a trend I see in the U.S. Congress that I find disturbing, that applies not only with respect to the Iranian situation but a number of others as well. I think we Americans sometimes make mistakes . . . There seems to be an assumption that somehow we know what’s best for everybody else and that we are going to use our economic clout to get everybody else to live the way we would like.” [7]
Obviously, Cheney was and continues to be amply rewarded. Cheney is paid between $100,000 and $1,000,000 per year in “deferred compensation.” [8] Cheney either hired or promoted many of the executives who currently direct Halliburton and KBR. Interestingly, Cheney resigned from his lucrative Halliburton position on July 25, 2000, to spearhead the selection process in finding a running mate for George W. Bush.
During Cheney’s five years at Halliburton, benefactors of many no-bid government contracts, the company made substantial political contributions, mostly to Republicans – a total of $1,212,000 in soft and hard money to candidates and parties. In the previous five years, the company gave $534,750. [9] Do campaign contributions affect votes? See these graphs.
Cheney has been the most powerful number two in U.S. history. It was no surprise that Rumsfeld, long-time cohort, was installed at the Pentagon as Secretary of Defense. Cheney also insisted, despite the strenuous objections of Secretary of State, Colin Powell, that Neo-con Paul Wolfowitz be second in command at the Pentagon. He further insisted, against Powell’s objections, on installing “ultra-unilateralist” John Bolton, then vice-president of the American Enterprise Institute as undersecretary of state for arms control and international security.
Cheney, stacking the administration, was also behind the appointment of Elliott Abrams as the head of the Middle East office on the National Security Council. Cheney chose I. Lewis '”Scooter” Libby as his chief of staff and national security adviser. Libby and Wolfowitz had worked on a 1992 draft strategy that called for global U.S. military dominance. Libby and Cheney purportedly visited CIA headquarters numerous times prior to the 2003 Iraq invasion. This was viewed as applying pressure on CIA analysts to develop a link between Saddam Hussein, weapons of mass destruction and al-Qaeda. [10]
In 1997, Halliburton CEO Cheney, along with fellow Neo-cons Donald Rumsfeld and others, had founded the Project for the New American Century, an extreme right-wing think tank whose goal is to “promote American global leadership.” Cheney was also on the board of advisers of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), founded in 1976, before becoming Vice President. JINSA's advisory board also included Michael Ledeen (AEI), Richard Perle, James Woolsey, John Bolton (AEI), Douglas Feith and others, many of whom serve the Bush/Cheney agenda. [11] JINSA issued a press statement calling for an Iraqi regime change and support of the Iraqi National Congress on September 13, 2001. [12]
Michael Ledeen, self-proclaimed “universal fascist,” was on the National Security Council in the Reagan-Bush Administration and was a pivotal figure in the Iran-Contra fiasco. Then he was selling weapons to the people he is now scheming to overthrow. He supports violence as part of America’s objective in bombing people into democracy. He has “repeatedly complained that the Bush administration has let its regime-change plans for Iran and Syria ‘gather mold in the bowels of the bureaucracy’.” [13]
Military downsizing began in the 1980s, during the Reagan Administration. Ongoing military conflict didn’t decrease; we just had less people to accomplish the same objectives. These combined circumstances further enhanced a previously unprecedented business of private military companies involved in every aspect of military life: procurement, training (domestic and foreign) and logistics. The selling points included: reduce the bureaucracy, create new industry and jobs which would fuel the economy. [14]
War is always about economics. Iraq for Sale, an online video, defines the profits that Kellogg, Brown & Root makes in Iraq through their no-bid government contracts. War changes business and government. Opportunities for greater profits cause some companies to discontinue production of goods for public benefit. War also changes expenditures. Public monies, instead of benefiting the public, fill the coffers of big business whose sole motivation for existence is profit at the expense of everyone and everything else. Bush’s promise of a long, protracted war on terror provides exclusivity for war-related businesses and possible financial insolvencies for companies who manufacture plowshares. Both Halliburton and the Carlyle Group are in the top twenty list of Pentagon military contractors. Both companies have ties to the top two U.S. government officials. Scroll down and see all the lists and financial benefits: Outsourcing the Pentagon.
The general public remains unaware of the crony capitalism that enriches certain well-connected companies. Public ignorance only breeds more deception and secrecy. The 2006 Defense Authorization Act was passed in December 2005 giving the Pentagon total exemption from the Freedom of Information Act which had previously allowed access to more than 30,000 documents detailing the military involvement in the torture and abuse of foreign detainees. This exemption also shields the government in connection with any future domestic tyranny. The CIA already has such immunity. [15]
Clinton’s “ban on trade and investment with Iran” was renewed by George W. Bush on March 13, 2001. Bush stated in the renewal of this order regarding sanctions that he was taking the step “because the actions and policies of the government of Iran continue to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States.” An amendment was further added on July 26, 2005. “The sanctions, imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, mainly affect US petroleum companies, barring them from investing in Iran's energy sector.” [16] A UN resolution was passed on December 23, 2006 that imposed sanctions until Iran stops enriching uranium.
Despite Bush’s renewal of the trade ban, Halliburton has continued an illegal business relationship with Oriental Oil Kish, one of Iran’s largest private oil companies and their vice chairman, Cyrus Nasseri who is the head of the Iranian delegation to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) negotiating the future of Iran’s nuclear programs. Nasseri has allegedly been a close advisor and consultant to Halliburton. Apparently, Nasseri purportedly provided Iran’s nuclear secrets to Halliburton for a $1 million bribe. [17] Hashemi-Rafsanjani, president of Iran from 1989-1997, is reportedly one of the owners of the Oriental Oil Kish. [18] A subsidiary of Halliburton Energy Services called Halliburton Products and Services Ltd. opened an unmarked office on the 10th floor of a Tehran office building and is likely to remain in Iran through 2009.

Next Neo-con Target – Iran
Part 2
![]()
By Deanna Spingola
George Bush said that “the final history in the region has yet to be written” but what is interesting about the violence in Iraq, Lebanon and the Gaza strip is that all three involved terrorist groups are trying to thwart the spread of democracy. “Iran is obviously part of the problem,” he added. “Imagine if they had a nuclear weapon.” [1]
As recently as January 2005 Halliburton sold key components for a nuclear reactor to an Iranian development company. [2] They previously claimed that they would discontinue doing business in Iran. However, that claim didn’t include its subsidiary companies. [3] I am not a scientist but a nuclear reactor is a source for plutonium or enriched uranium for nuclear weapons. Iran doesn’t have nuclear weapons. Religious leaders vigorously deny that they are working on nuclear weaponry. If Iran possessed weapons, they would use them for self-defense because both Israel and the United States have nuclear bombs and superior delivery systems. Any offensive use of potential nuclear weapons would guarantee national suicide for Iran. [4]
In early January 2007, it was revealed that Israel had developed secret plans to destroy Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities with tactical nuclear weapons, the first use of nuclear weapons since 1945, “when the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.” [5] In addition, “The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney’s office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States.
The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States.” [6]
Destabilization for Iran has been in the plotting stages in U.S. private foundations and think-tanks. A military strike against Iran’s nuclear energy production facilities would most definitely affect the economy. The other objective – overthrow the Iranian government. Multinational companies, along with covert military operations supply oil-rich countries, and encourage infrastructure development by acquiring World Bank loans. The greedy seize the resources, collect the money, eliminate leaders and install puppet governments who will accommodate globalist demands. Some dictators call that democracy; in reality it is fascism, an incestuous, symbiotic relationship between government and big business.
“Both Israel and the United States have leaderships greatly influenced by religious groups whose principles encourage and welcome violent expansionism and even apocalyptic, ‘end-time’ scenarios. The media do not mention U.S. and Israeli religious fanaticism as posing any kind of regional or global existential threat. Nor do they discuss or express great concern over the fact that whereas a few nuclear weapons would only help Iran to deter other states from attacking it, the United States and Israel could use nuclear weapons against Iran without committing national suicide.” [7]
Why is it that Cheney is regularly involved in any issue dealing with a designated “axis of evil” country and weaponry? Read about the 1991 cable regarding North and South Korea from Secretary of State James Baker to Dick Cheney when he was the Secretary of Defense. Baker recently headed the bipartisan Iraq Study Group which recommended a withdrawal of U.S. troops by early 2008. However, Bush is committed to the recommendations of the neoconservative American Enterprise Institute (AEI) instead. Dick Cheney, as previously mentioned was a senior fellow with this group in 1993. Cheney’s wife, Lynne has been a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute since 1993.
George W. Bush said on National Public Radio on Monday, January 29, 2007, that the United States will respond “firmly” if Iran escalates its “military action” in strife-stricken Iraq to the detriment of our troops or the Iraqi people. Gordon Johndroe, U.S. National Security Council spokesman, urged Iran to discontinue their ‘destructive’ behavior in Iraq. Further, he stated that the U.S. would welcome a constructive stance from Iran. [8] Statistics indicate that the greatest detriment to Iraq and her civilians is the result of continued American presence and our use of depleted uranium weapons – responsible for the deaths and maiming of thousands.
The U.S. Pentagon Propaganda Ministry is disseminating disinformation (brainwashing) including a false claim that Ahmadinejad stated he wanted to “wipe Israel off the map.” Or perhaps you heard the story about the infamous, distorted, allegedly anti Semitic International Conference on the Holocaust in Iran. The disinformation agents also claim that “networks of Iranians that had been operating with virtual impunity inside Iraq.” This Tonkin Bay type claim will undoubtedly be used to justify an invasion of Iran. Apparently five American soldiers were killed on January 20, 2007 which is being blamed on some Iranian agents because of the unusual methods, weapons and uniforms.
The new Secretary of War, Robert Gates, stated that “any kind of military action inside Iran itself … would be a very last resort.” Gates also said “that the addition of 21,000 troops would be viewed as a temporary surge.” Almost in the same breath, Gates “announced that he was requesting an increase in the size of the Army and Marine Corps by 92,000 troops over the next five years.” [9] “Temporary” is obviously meaningless given the requested increase in troops.
The Pentagon is ready to make a proposal to Congress requesting that the Army be “increased by 65,000, to 547,000 and that the Marine Corps, the smallest of the services, grow by 27,000, to 202,000, over the next five years.” Because that will not supply sufficient cannon fodder for endless warfare, the Pentagon has recently “abandoned its limit on the time a citizen-soldier can be required to serve on active duty.” [10] Prepare for the sacrificing of your sons and daughters to military servitude along with otherwise well-compensated mercenaries.
“Already, private contractors constitute the second-largest ‘force’ in Iraq. At last count, there were about 100,000 contractors in Iraq, of which 48,000 work as private soldiers, according to a Government Accountability Office report. These soldiers have operated with almost no oversight or effective legal constraints and are an undeclared expansion of the scope of the occupation. Many of these contractors make up to $1,000 a day, far more than active-duty soldiers. What's more, these forces are politically expedient, as contractor deaths go uncounted in the official toll.” [11] Contract employees are not subject to military command and discipline.
Bush claims that “Together, we can restrain the spending appetite of the federal government, and we can balance the federal budget.” [12] Given the amount of money expended for war, this balancing act seems unrealistic or just an outright lie. See Bush’s previous budget.
There are four American submarines off the coast of Iran. The former commander of the Russian fleet, Eduard Baltin, justifiably claims that the U.S. is planning an imminent, unilateral attack on Iran. [13] Donald Rumsfeld and the American Enterprise Institute, not Congress, “developed a strategy for regime change in Iran that does not involve a ground invasion. Weapons of mass destruction will provide the rationale for military action, though it won't be limited to attacks on a few weapons factories.” The attack “will include limiting Iranian retaliatory capability, using bombers to destroy up to 10,000 targets in the first day of any war, and Special Forces flying in to destroy anything that's left.” [14] Whatever retaliatory capabilities they possess were probably supplied through Pentagon surpluses.
The American Enterprise Institute is a far right-wing, Neo-con think tank that regularly embeds their people into influential government positions to cement their globalist foreign and domestic policies. George W. Bush admitted their influence in a speech, the Future of Iraq, at a gathering on February 26, 2003. “At the American Enterprise Institute, some of the finest minds in our nation are at work on some of the greatest challenges to our nation. You do such good work that my administration has borrowed 20 such minds.” [15] The Institute, prior to Bush’s State of the Union speech on January 23, 2007, considered domestic and international challenges likely to be highlighted in the speech as well as the war on terror. [16]
The American Enterprise Institute has strong ties to the Project for a New American Century (PNAC), co-founded in 1997 by William Kristol (Weekly Standard) and Robert Kagan. Other early PNAC members included Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, and Elliott Abrams, many of whom had roots in the Pentagon and previous Bush administration, were appointed to strategic positions in the current Bush administration. Other members included Gary Bauer, Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and Robert James Woolsey, former director of the CIA.
A major PNAC focus was Iraq, long before September 11, 2001, the “New Pearl Harbor.” [17] Perle, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, recently gave a talk in Israel at the Herzliya Conference in which he said: “President George Bush will order an attack on Iran if it becomes clear to him that Iran is set to acquire nuclear weapons capabilities while he is still in office.” [18]
PNAC supports U.S. imperialistic exploitation of resources to further multinational business interests through the use of preemptive military attacks which necessitates a huge military budget at the expense of America’s social programs and infrastructure maintenance or reconstruction. The benefactors are the government connected military-industrial-complex which includes the Carlyle Group, a top Pentagon contractor. The Department of Defense has adopted the PNAC program for world domination through pervasive warfare.
So, Iran is our newest enemy target, worthy of a probable invasion planned by Cheney, because they possess nuclear components that Cheney and Halliburton sold to them in the first place. Where is the congressional or media oversight? Perhaps key members of Congress are also indebted to the same military/industrial complex for their conflict-of-interest elite lifestyles? Political contributions are insignificant – investments are even more financially beneficial, especially if that politician serves on the right committees, like the Appropriations Committee as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence. It makes exploiting the system more convenient. [19]
Map From: Atlantic Free Press Iran is the last oil-rich holdout in the regime’s objective for Middle East domination. When the globalists seize all the resources, they will exert tyrannical control over everything else – the world’s populace!
The Caspian Basin and Central Asia are the keys to energy in the 21st century. Whoever controls the oil routes from Central Asia will control distribution, quantities, and prices.
“The Caspian Basin has an estimated $5 trillion of oil and gas resources, and Central Asia has 6 trillion cubic meters of natural gas and 10 billion barrels of undeveloped oil reserves. Interconnecting pipelines are the key to accessing and distributing oil and gas to European, Chinese and Russian markets. Western policy planners have devoted years to this agenda.” [20]
